        Why do the Marlins need a stadium when nobody goes to the games? Practically half of their seats are vacated... it would be a waste of money.

          No it wouldn't

          new stadium=excitement, instant cash flow from fans filling the stadium every night, owning your own stadium with no lease payments etc etc.

          The whole idea of building a new stadium to attract a bigger fanbase and more money for payroll has worked almost flawlessly. The only two markets where it hasn't worked out so well are Detroit and Pittsburgh and that's mostly due to the fact that both organizations took the wrong approach of building a new park and taking the (assumed) profit and make the team better.

          The other markets where new stadiums have worked took the approach of having a young team with a bright future then building the park to get more cash flow in order to attract FAs and such.
