I think Roy Halladay's return to prominence following his injury riddled 2004 isn't getting the press it truly deserves...

And Inge. Inge rules. You gotta love Inge. 40 walks. He rules.

I kindof expected Nady to do pretty well if he ever got called up. Nobody ever had faith in him, But I saw him jack a few out in PGE, so when I saw that huge 3rd level Western Metal Supplies jack I was like "That's Nady. Gotta be." He doesn't hit many, and he'll never hit 50 a year or anything, but when it's gone with Nady? It stays Gone.

Boy, there's just a treasure trove of great players out there who nobody expected. ...Eckstein is notoriously kinda streaky....past two years hasn't he been at like....230 BA around this time of the year? So for him to be hitting the way he is is awesome. So often just before the season begins there's all this excitement and people start saying "oh this rookie is going to be awesome!"....kinda the way they did with Brazelton a few years back? Well, this time it was David Wright and well...he has been spectacular...of course then there's also Sizemore....Ellison....Omar Vasquez....Capuano....Loaiza...be honest, who expected Loaiza to have an ERA under 5? MECHE! 8 wins....I'm tellin ya, the guy is going to be very good someday. Kris Benson has been pretty good....Cliff floyd....and then there's always...

            BRIAN ROBERTS

okay show of hands, who expected Brian Roberts to be hitting above .290 with more than 2 home runs right now? LOL

At the same time, Marino Rivera. Granted he's arguably the best closer of all-time so he may get taken for granted, but after last year's ALCS and the opening series against Boston this year, everyone was saying that he was washed up and lost his stuff. So what did he do?

Hasn't allowed an earned run since May 6th.

0.91 ERA, 17 saves, 29.2 IP, 16 hits allowed, 32 K's. His 11 BB's is definately high, but he's been amazingly this season.

I'll second the Brian Roberts nomination.

And answer to BJ Ryan is the Orioles haven't been winning in June so everyone forgot about him. He was saves leader for a while.

How is he overlooked? This guy has been talked about since the first week of the season. Yes, his numbers were and are unexpected, but that doesn't have to do with the topic. This isn't a thread about suprise players so far, its a thread for players who are doing great things that have gone unnoticed.

                        My picks:

                        Reggie Sanders
                        Brady Clark
                        Doug Davis
                        John Patterson

David Wright... now with 527 career at-bats and an OPS at .872... great for a kid of his age... and he's a fun player to watch, too.
