Re: Best Sox stat this year.
FWIW, I also dislike Red Sox fans. Red Sox fans image of being holier than thou is irrelevant to this thread. This is about the White Sox, and the contrast between how they are perceived visa vi the Cubs and Red Sox.
My point is that the White Sox have not won a World Series since 1917. That is 87 years. Can you explain why this is not a bigger story across the country? Almost every single baseball fan prior to last year was aware of the legendary 86 year Red Sox drought, and 90+ year Cubs drought. Why does it seem like there are few who care about the futility of the White Sox?
My best guess? Nobody really seems to care.
I suppose this might be good in a way, because it deflects attention away from how poor White Sox teams have been over the years. They last went to the World Series in 1959 fer chrissake. Clearly, there have just been mistakes piled upon mistakes. I don't personally know the history; all I see are poor results.
I guess it might be better that people don't really give a hoot about how long it has been since CWS have won it all; must put less pressure on the ballclub.
BTW, say what you want about the 86 year run of futility from the Red Sox, but since 1967, the Red Sox have been consistently competitive compared to other teams that are currently around from back then. They reached the World Series in every decade except the 90's. They've had pretty good ballclubs, but have run into absolute buzzsaws in the WS: 1967 Cardinals, 1975 Big Red Machine, 1986 Mets were an over 100 win team as well. I could get into how insanely idiotic management has been since 1918, but I'll spare you the details.Comment

Spare me the details? Don't you think I know them? You ARE speaking as "holier than thou" fan. Don't tell me about my team or how I should feel about them.
Do you honestly think I give a crap if anyone cares about the Sox or not? How did this even come into debate. This topic was about THIS years White Sox and how they are doing THIS YEAR.Michigan WolverinesChicago White SoxComment

I don't know about the White Sox, I'm not sold yet. I don't think they have a real good rotation. Jose Contreras is big question mark. And it's too early to tell if Garland is the real deal or a flash in the pan.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. I think if they do falter, it will be because they stop scoring runs.Comment
