Now, I would not necessarily be against Wilson moving to Chicago, though I think they have what they need on the bench in Hollandsworth (who has rather consistently been a producer for the Cubs) and Grieve (not a stud, but much more patient at the plate than any other Cubs hitter, save maybe Walker). If either of these guys got some time, I think the lineup would benefit.
The more important question, however, is why in the world would the Cubs front office not be seeking quality relievers? Stanton is a bit worn out, but I would prefer to see him trot to the mound than ANYONE the Cubs have now.
There are also other options...
How is an over-achiever like Preston Wilson the first choice when everyone is well aware that the Cubs problems lie with their pen? Of their relievers, only one (will ohman) with 10+ appearances has an ERA less than 3.00, and only ONE OTHER has an era under 4.00
The Trib, Hendry, and Baker must go...this is a joke, and not a funny one, more like a crime, more like Enron...the way this team's management screws the very loyal fanbase is no different than lying to shareholders.
Cub fans should strike...but they are fools.
