"blue chip top tier" prospects. Hey, I'm not in favor of trading the few remaining prospects for
"stars" - but at the same time, I honestly think you are overestimating their ceiling. Only time will tell of course.
Regardless, Beane is a shark - and he has orchestrated so many one-sided deals in his favor - so I'm not in the least surprised that he is asking for the few prospects the Yankees have.
And he will get what he wants - from one team or the other.
What is really hilarious is how you state that Womack/Quantrill add any sort of value to the trade. I think Cashman should just call Billy up and say:
"Billy, this is Brian. Now can we trade Andy Philips for Kotsay straight up, or do we have to include Womack too?"
I would pay to be a fly on the wall just to hear someone even propose the concept of Womack on the Oakland A's. Beane would choose Jose Conseco, Rickey Henderson,
Darryl Strawberry and Ted Williams' head, before he even thought of taking Womack. - Terminator from NYYFans.com message board (In the trade deadline forum, I think its the "Screw trading for a CF'er" thread, or something of the like.)
It seems like the Yankee fans on that forum are functionally ********, so when I actually saw someone come in there with a brain and actually state something that made sense it was shocking.
BTW, the reason that person made said comment was because others were suggesting a low minor league prospect and possibly Womack or etc. for Kotsay of the A's.
