Dusty feels Patterson can have the most impact there.. it's a shame the guy won't modify his swing and stop swinging for the fences every at bat and actually learn to hit some singles. If he ever learned to do that, he'd be one of the top base stealers.

problem is he was brought up in the system as a number 3 hitter. And i'm guessing probably was a run producer his whole life. It's difficult to change what you do after so long. He made it to the show doing what he's doing. I'd be reluctant to change too.

I love C Pat, but his only impact in June was 33 K's. July is off to a healthy start with 2 K's. Leadoff guys shouldn't K that much. Just b/c he is fast doesn't mean he needs to leadoff.

Why dont he just bat Neifi in the leadoff spot? Neifi has the speed and can hit for average.

That is a big problem right there. This organization has always said this is a power hitter. Look at him, he is a small twig. He could be the next Ryno, but he wont change.I flat out hate the guy because he is a arrogant SOB who thinks he is Bonds. Nice OB %. What an absolute embaressment. Easily one of the worst players in baseball who plays everyday.

Being the leadoff hitter does get you, I think somewhere around 60 extra AB per season than if you batted in the two hole...

Can't send him down as he's out of options. He'd have to clear waivers first and someone would pick him up. He's still pretty young and i'd hate to give up on him yet. I'd rather trade him and get something for him. He's still got a lot of upside so there is likely still a nice market for him.

I think messing with him and trying to turn him into something he's not is why he's struggling.
