    Someone actually wanted Quantrill?

The Padres have traded pitchers May/Redding to the yankees for Paul Quantrill.

Yay, we cut two crappy pitchers and now get two more. I guess it's better than nothing, maybe there's a one in a million chance May will be a decent leftyfor us.

Funny, I was going to say the same thing about May and Redding.

I'm a Sox fan so the yankees can take whatever crappy pitchers they want lol.

I'm just surprised anyone who has seen quantrill pitch this season is willing to give up two pitches for them, even if they have both been rather, horrible.

Well Quantrill's been around but I believe he's never pitched in the NL or if he has it was for a very short time. I think he can get away with pitching pretty good since most NL hitters haven't seen him enough over their careers.

I thought Quantrill was with the Dodgers for a couple years?

Anyway, I have a gut feeling that Quantrill isn't totally done, I dunno why just some feeling I have.

It seems like if he has anything left, a pitchers park vs. hitters who really haven't seen him, it's the perfect situation to right the ship as much as possible.

                    Re: Someone actually wanted Quantrill?

Good trade, it frees up some wiggle room for the Padres and possibly is setting up for an even bigger trade (the talks are starting to go around here in San Diego, we just don't know but supposedly it's supposed to involve a big name player).

Quantrill is familiar with the NL, especially the NL West.

As for Darrell May and Tim Redding, good luck Yankees...

The only bad part about this acquisition is that the Padres called up right handed gas can Brian Falkenborg. Hopefully Eaton can come back before he can harm the team any more.
