    Bret Boone designated for assignment

Wow, just 2 or 3 years ago he was close for the MVP race and had a an amazing season, what happen! I wonder who will take him. I know the Padres where gonna trade for him...there is no link right now, but I will post it as soon as I find one, I seen it under the 58/38 Update for ESPN

Wow, that is actually pretty surprising. They have 10 days to trade him, right? I think that's how it goes.

      Who needs a 2B?
      Padres
      Yankees?
Twins(would never spend that much $$ though)
Red Sox?(don't know how Bellhorn is playing)
      Mets

Padres don't really need a 2nd baseman. Loretta is hurt but he'll be back by the end of the month and I don't see Boone wanting to be a bench player in another 30 days.

          Very surprising

I like Bellhorn, but his K's do get annoying. Depending on what he might cost, I'd take a chance on him.

I've always been a Boone fan though, so that's probably why I'd want him.

Yup, watching the Red Sox Jays game and seeing this on the bottom of the ticker, I also thought he'd be a good fit there, with Markkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Bellhorn wiffing so much.. .

I don't see Epstein trying to replace Bellhorn with Boone, especially in a trade.
                2005 Numbers:

                Boone: .231/.299/.385
                Bellhorn: .234/.344/.387

Factor in Bellhorn's solid defense, and it does not appear to be any sort of upgrade. I can see the Yankees trying to get Boone..

WOW this is surprising.... could he have been on the juice? Or was it simply his career was at its end? I'm sure someone will pick him up... Bad year to be a Boone, that's for sure.

I think he was on the juice, how is Boone's defense?

I've never heard that he was a liability in the field.

Anything is better than Bellhorn's first pitch swinging, with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, ***.

anybody remember the old SNL skits of the Greek Restaurant, where all the waiters would offer to go with the meal (or some other situation similar to what I am describing) was "the juice"?

Everytime I hear Juice, all I can think of is the way they would say it in that skit. I think it was Rob Schneider.

I'm sure he was on the juice in the 01 season. The sudden power surge while playing in a pitchers park was staggering.

Their were reports Boone suffered from a bad case of backne (a side effect of Roids).

But I'm not suprised he's having a terrible season. He's probably off the juice now and he's 36 years old. That's a bad combination.

Now the writers won't foolishly vote for Boone for the Gold Glove award like they did last year. Orlando Hudson won't get jobbed 2 years in a row.

Wow, this caught me a bit off guard. Hopefully the M's can get something decent for Boone.
