Wow, just, just wow @ the above post.

Yes, the Seattle Mariners are cursed because when they acquire hitters they don't seem to perform as well.

Boone can hit 20-30 in Fenway? You could put the ball on a tee for the rest of his plate appearances this season, and he still wouldn't have 20-30 home runs.

Well... guys like Jeter and A-Rod are pretty much locked for the next several years, so it's not like they can just be switched to the outfield like Womack can .

Every year I see Yankee fans continue to hype their own prospects to levels unimaginable. Remember Jorge DePaula? Brandon Claussen? Navarro? All these average/mediocre players got hyped up as the second coming of Christ in Yankees fans desperate search of rationalizing their crazy trade proposals. The same seems to be happening again this year with Robinson Cano and Wang. Most fanbases tend to do this (Hanley Ramirez), but it reaches ridiculous levels with NY Yankees fans.

If Robinson Cano is the top NY Yankee prospect, you know the Yankees have a weak farm system. Cano is a solid player, but certainly no blue chipper or future all star. He's never posted jaw dropping numbers in the minors, just solid numbers (career high .356 OBP at AA Trenton), but nothing to really get a woody over.

The point is, if the right offer comes up for Cano, you move him. He's not a player you hold onto as a building block, he's a spare part. Ditto for Wang, who has been walking on water (3.29 K/9 !!) this year with his BABIP..

What did any of those guys EVER do at the major league level? The media and the organization were hyping them up so they could get the maximum from a trade (just like every organization does). They brought some of them up and they blew. Big deal, it happens to every team, don't single out the Yankees.

They bring Cano up and as a 22-year-old he's hitting .291 in his first 200 major league at-bats with 14 doubles, 6 homers and 2 triples. Slugging .474, but granted his OBP is AWFUL at just .316 (just 7 BB), but he is a rookie and a free-swinger. Hopefully that will change. Plus he's putting up these numbers in the most turmoil-filled season in the Bronx since the 70's. He's handling the pressure nicely, there are 5-time all-stars who can't handle the pressure in NY.

Now, did Navarro ever come up for two months and put up those numbers? No. Did DePaula ever come up for two months and go 5-1 with a 3.00 ERA? No.
Those other prospects you mentioned never proved anything at the MLB level, while Cano has proved he can hang.

If you have a second basemen who hits .290 for a season with 15 homers, 30 doubles, knock in around 55-60 runs, that's pretty damn good. It's not like there are tons of offensive juggernaughts at the plate who play second. There are barely any second basemen who are "building blocks". And it's a GOOD THING HE ISN'T!! Haven't you friggen realized ANYTHING about what the Yankees' front office has done wrong in the past three years? You need players who aren't all-stars, you need role players, you need players who can mesh.

And so then you say to move Cano whenever we can. For who? For an older second basemen? A 29 year old centerfielder who will be outta the Bronx in 3 years? We finally have our first decent young prospect in a decade and you say he's an disposable part? I don't know where you come up w. some of this stuff man.

I said above they shouldn't move Cano for Boone, so I don't know where you're getting that from.

As for the other stuff, those other players never got the opportunity to prove themselves at the MLB level because the Yankees didn't need them, so we don't know what they would have done. Maybe they would have been great, maybe not. To say they did nothing is a bit misleading, because they weren't given the opportunity. If your point is that Cano is producing with the Yankees compared to the other guys (DePaula, Claussen, etc), it's a little bit misleading.

It's sad... he was one of my favorite Mariner. Hopefully he succeeds in whatever team he goes to.

Red Sox are a serious possibilty for Boone, Mark Bellhorn is nowhere near as good as he was last season but with his versatility the Sox could sign Boone and use Bellhorn all over the Infield. The Red Sox a decent utlity man off the bench, Ramon Vazquez was a total bust (go figure) and right now Kevin Youkilis is the backup Infielder, Youkilis has played 5 career games at 1B 1 at 2B and 0 games at SS.

Bellhorn on the other hand has played:
                23 games at 1B
                326 games at 2B
                165 games at 3B
                29 games at SS
and 7 games in the OF

Boone at Second and Bellhorn on the bench, make it happen Theo!.
