If it weren't for the rule where every team has to have at least 1 player, I'm sure Tito would have taken Mike Timlin (1.58 ERA in 40 IP) to come out of the pen for the AL.Boston Red Sox l New England Patriots l Boston Celtics l Massachusetts Minutemen l Boston College EaglesComment

Are you kidding me? Im guessing you watched today's game and thought that Ryan wasn't good but it was ONE freakin' game. Ryan has been DOMINANT this year. He is the 2nd best closer in the majors (Only Cordero is better) due to his 58 strikeouts and less then 10 walks. He deserves to be there more then any other closer not named Chad Cordero and maybe Mariano Riviera.Comment

1-2 2.82 ERA 12 Walks 58 K's 18 Saves 2 Blown 1.10 WHIP .210 BAA
Rivera:
4-2 0.83 ERA 11 Walks 35 K's 18 Saves 2 Blown 0.86 WHIP .145 BAA
I agree that Ryan has had a great year, but let's not get crazy. Rivera has a much better ERA, a better WHIP, a better BAA and slightly less walks given up.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

These are Ryan's stats AFTER today's disater against the Yankees in which he gave up 3 walks, and 4 runs. That game really hurt some of his stats (his era was 1.67 a few days ago). Take that game away and they have very similar stats. Of course Rivera's are a tad better which is why I mentioned him as one of the 2 closers who deserves to be at the ASG more then Ryan.Comment
