Uhh, on the MLB website it lists the all-star rosters... is the pitcher at the top of the starters list the guy that will start the game? Or is it a game time announcement?

It's usually announced the night before the ASG

                    Am I missing something?

If it weren't for the rule where every team has to have at least 1 player, I'm sure Tito would have taken Mike Timlin (1.58 ERA in 40 IP) to come out of the pen for the AL.

There has to be more deserving pitchers in the AL to be on the All Star Team than B.J. Ryan

Are you kidding me? Im guessing you watched today's game and thought that Ryan wasn't good but it was ONE freakin' game. Ryan has been DOMINANT this year. He is the 2nd best closer in the majors (Only Cordero is better) due to his 58 strikeouts and less then 10 walks. He deserves to be there more then any other closer not named Chad Cordero and maybe Mariano Riviera.

                            Ryan:
                            1-2 2.82 ERA 12 Walks 58 K's 18 Saves 2 Blown 1.10 WHIP .210 BAA

                            Rivera:
                            4-2 0.83 ERA 11 Walks 35 K's 18 Saves 2 Blown 0.86 WHIP .145 BAA

I agree that Ryan has had a great year, but let's not get crazy. Rivera has a much better ERA, a better WHIP, a better BAA and slightly less walks given up.

Remember before today Ryan had a 1.67ERA 58:9 K/BB ratio 0.96 WHIP .196BAA. Those 58K's are in 38+ innings. That's lightouts. He was left out there to roast today, and really didn't even get hit hard.

These are Ryan's stats AFTER today's disater against the Yankees in which he gave up 3 walks, and 4 runs. That game really hurt some of his stats (his era was 1.67 a few days ago). Take that game away and they have very similar stats. Of course Rivera's are a tad better which is why I mentioned him as one of the 2 closers who deserves to be at the ASG more then Ryan.
