Reason #865 why Bud Selig should resign

    Ok I don't get this,

So we all know Kenny Rogers got suspended for 20 games and a 50 K fine. Well Rogers appealed the suspension. (which I think is just a waste of time because it should hold up) I don't have a problem with that but I do have a problem with when the appeal will take place. Apparently the appeal will take place AFTER the All Star Game.

Rogers was named to the ASG and so since his appeal is on hold he can actually play in the game. Oh ya, guess what he gets a 50 K bonus for making the ASG.

The man hasn't apologized for what he did, he gets a huge suspension and fine but it looks like he's going to get rewarded for being a *******.

This just stinks to high heaven and if Rogers actually gets in the game I hope some crazy fan runs out on the field and attacks him.

Well, suspended or not, Rogers would get that fat bonus for making the ASG, regardless of whether he actually played or not. On top of that, Rogers has stated that he has yet to decide if he will actually attend the festivities in Detroit.

As for the appeal hardly ever does MLB have the appeal hearing directly after the actual appeal is filed. It usually takes weeks for the process to actually get wrapped up. I really wouldn't be surprised it it was put off until three weeks from today when the Rangers are next on the east coast. Especially with the ASG hoopla going on this time next week.

Actually, if he decides not to go, he doesn't get the bonus. If he opts out of it for non injury reasons, he doesn't get the bonus.(That's what they were saying on Baseball Tonight, anyway)

Rogers really has no case to appeal for. I don't know why he bothers.

Players always appeal so that they can still play.

Rogers does have a case to appeal. Pitchers have thrown at people's heads and gotten just a slap on the wrist for it. This pitcher attacked a camera ... not a person, a machine.

I do agree that 20 games (4 starts) is the right ruling though, but it should be like that for every time a pitcher plunks a guy anywhere about the ribs (unless it's pure wildness).

Rogers should have gotten a stiffer penalty in my book, but thats beside the point. I don't think Bud Selig could have done anything in this matter regarding the appeal. The MLB is one of the strongest unions and I am sure that the appeal process was all laid out in the Collective Bargaining agreement. There is really nothing else that could be done in this case.
