    Boone to the Twins

    link

Surprising, you don't usually see the Twins make many trades. I've always liked Boone even though it's looking more and more like he juiced. Hopefully he can bounce back and have a productive second half with Minnesota.

We really should of traded Boone at last season's break.

I wonder if we will land a decent prospect out of this.

Well, at least we got something for Boonie, even if it's just a minor prospect. Much better than just releasing him and getting nothing.

Hopefully Bret Boone will be productive for the Twins. I think he might be the Shannon Stewart of 2005. Come on Bret Boone bring us back to the top in the AL Central!

Are the Twins really that desperate?

I guess...they haven;t been in 2nd place for a long time. Their in a different position going into July 30th this year.

Its not so much of a desperate move as a "can't lose" type move. Even if the guy is flat out terrible for the rest of the year (right now they don't exactly have any world beaters out there playing the position), all they are out is about 170K, half a year at the major league minimum. Not too bad.

Exactly, they are paying the league minimum for him and giving up a marginal prospect. In the process, they are stabalizing their infield. The Twins have started Luis Rivas, Nick Punto, Luis Rodriguez, Brent Abernathy, and Michael Cuddyer at 2nd and neither of those guys has done enough to win the job. Punto maybe would have deserved it but he's been injured for the last month and just came back.

Bret Boone will bring gold glove defense and the potential to hit much better than any of the other Twins' options at 2nd. Not that any of the Twins' second baseman have been playing bad defense, but Boone at the very least brings the potential to hit.

I cringe everytime that trade is mentioned.. I still wonder what the heck the Giants were looking to do with that..

This could turn out to be a great move for the Twins, Boone has never been dealt during the season, the Mariners gave up on him and he should be coming to Minnesota with something to prove. If he finds his stroke again this could make the A.L. Central race a lot more interesting.

Regardless of how much Boone is struggling at the bat, he is still a gold glove second basemen. That's something that helps a team tremendously, and very rarely goes into slumps.

Jim Edmonds is much older and he's probably the best fielding Center in the game, age doesn't mean much.

It seems to me that the Twins always get best end of the trade.
Like AJ for Nathan...we got an all star plus prospects
Also Milton for Silva and Punto...Silva has been solid and Milton has struggled
Boone for player to be named....Only time will tell.
