"We know he's had some -- er -- control problems..."

That's what Joe Torre had to say when Matt Clement threw the ball completely behind Gary Sheffield today during the Red Sox/Yankees game. I don't have a link, it's just what he said on Sportscenter.

I don't know why, but that just sounds hilarious!

Joe Torre doesn't seem to understand that he's caught in a mix of one of the biggest rivalries in all sports!

All bias aside... Joe Torre is one of the classiest players and managers to ever play the game. Unforutnately sometimes he doesn't tell it like it is like managers such as Pinella and Mclendon might... so he's not gonna come out and say that everytime a Yankee gets thrown at that its intentional.

Its been going on for years and hes never told the media that the Sox intentional have throw at us.

Plus, if you live in NY and listen to the Joe Torre report on WFAN every Thursday, you'll know that he's a really down to earth guy and he knows exactly whats going on.

NY vs. Boston 101: Make all molehills into mountains.

He likely didn't throw at Sheffield intentionally. This is a non-story, especially because the participants involved didn't perceive it to be intentional. Nothing to see here, move along.

I know, but you just had to hear how he said it. It just sounded very funny.

Why not? It obviously wasn't intentional. Clement couldn't have hit anyone if he tried today.

I saw/heard the same soundbite and took it as Torre referring to his control in that specific game. He also followed it up with "That's why his pitch count was so high".

            A non-issue in my opinion.
