Cards Fans - Carp is sharp!

    How about Chris Carpenter?

4 or 5 complete games shutouts...? it looks to easy for him.. it looked like he wasn't even trying in the 9th inning against the Astros today.. witch was the hottest team in baseball going in to the All Star break. Cards make a huge statement sweeping Petitte, Oswalt, and Clemons.

he is the best pitcher in baseball right now... I might be bias but I'm not sure who is better right now. I know he is at least the best in the National League..

the announcers today said his worst start this year was in Colorado when he gave up 5 hits no runs and went 7 and a 3rd or something like that. amazing

I'm 28 now.. and this is the best pitcher the Cards have ever had since I been watching. John Tudor is the last dominating pitcher I remember like Carp right now.. when Tudor had 10 complete game shutouts in 85... but I was kind of to young to appreciate it.

I hope Carp gets the Cy Young this year.. he deserves it. He has made a huge comeback from Surgery these last 2 years.

Do the rest of you Cards fans think Carp will start getting the national media attention now?

His stuff and control is so dominating.

Carp also passes Halladay and Willis in ERA and is now second in the majors at 2.34 to Clemens' 1.47.

ps. COrrection - That game in Colorado wasn't his worst outing, just his worst in his last five starts. He was blown out at the beginning of the year one time, and his last loss was against boston were he pitched ok allowing 3 runs in 6 innings.

Just like Rick and Bob were saying, he doesn't have the name of a Pedro Martinez or Clemens, and he doesn't have the charisma of Willis. But sooner than later Carpenter will have to start getting the attention he deserves. His stats over the past few months are just unbelievable. It is to the point where you almost expect him to shut these teams out, that's how good he has been. The Cardinals claimed they had found their ace when they traded for Mulder, but Carpenter has shown who the real ace is on the team.

I'm just really happy that I get to watch him pitch every 5 days.

Man...I knew Carpenter would turn into a good pitcher. Too bad it wasn't with the Blue Jays. I wish him well on his success tho. He's really turned into a premiere pitcher in the big leagues. He's definitely a contender for the Cy Young too.

2 times against Clemens this year, we got 1 ER off him (there were some unearned runs today) and we shut them out with gems by Mulder and Carpenter.
