    Forget Sori, I want Manny!

I'm one of the few Met fans who doesn't want Soriano anywhere near Shea Stadium. The Mets have two young 2B in Norfolk that can takeover next year in Andersen Hernandez and Jeff Keppinger, though he's hurt. Keppinger was hitting .337 in 65 games with only 13 k's and 4 errors. He is a contact hitter. Hernandez is hitting .324 with 12 SB's in 28 games. Good speed to compliment Reyes up the middle. Victor Diaz is learning to play 1st base and might be the 1st baseman of the future. That's why I believe the Mets should go after one of the games greatest run producers of all time in Manny Ramirez. If not now then in the off season. I know for a fact that Omar likes Manny more than Sori. The Sox would love to dump him and his contract. The Mets can start by offering Glavine and Floyd or Cameron if Damon leaves. Then we say goodbye to Piazza and sign FA C Brian Schneider who is the best at throwing runners out in the NL. Imagine this lineup:

    Reyes-SS
    Keppinger/Hernandez-2B
    Beltran-CF
    Ramirez-LF/RF
    Wright-3B
    Floyd/Cameron-LF/RF
    Diaz-1B
    Schneider-C
    New York Mets
    New York Giants
    New York Knicks
    New York Rangers
    Florida Gators
    Chelsea FC

If the Mets trade for Soriano, they should just move him into LF.

You guys have to realize the Sox have more or less committed to the idea of paying the remainder of Manny's contract unless they get something valueable in return. So any deal wouldnt be a straight salary dump and certainly wouldnt involve Tom Glavine getting anywhere close to Fenway park. Assuming Damon does not resign I think something like Cameron and Diaz would work for the Sox as it would give them a great defensive CF and a solid 4th OF and platoon partner for Trot.

I'm pretty sure that Soriano already said that he does not want to play any OF position.

Soriano Better the matsui so him playing 2nd ain't that bad but if the mets can get both players they'll be a pretty good team.

Several sources have said these two minor leaguers aren't gonna be anything too great and they're being over-hyped like crazy.

They aren't on the level of Wright or Reyes apparently. Just a lot of media hoopla and manipulation.

I thought I heard Johnny Damon say there was no way he was leaving Boston. Even if the Red Sox wanted to trade Manny it would take a lot and the mets dont have anything they would want or would be willing 2 give up.

Which sources? It's certianly not Baseball America, who's been lauding him for quite some time now. I can understand with regards to Kepp because of his age and lack of power. However, he's hit remarkably well at every level he's been at.

Hernandez I cannot- scouts said he had big league caliber defense at SS when he was in A-ball.

At AA, at the age of 22, he was hitting .326, .360 OBP, 7HR, 58 RBI in 273 at bats. By comparison, Robinson Cano in AA at the age of 21 over 292 AB was hitting .307, 7 HR, .356 OBP, and 40 RBI. The difference between the two is the slight age difference for Cano in AA but Hernandez outperformed Cano in virtually every category and also played better defense. Now at AAA, Hernandez is walking more and striking out less as well while still hitting.

If he's hyped, its for legitimate reason.

What sources? The YES Network? Just look at their numbers. Fact is, I've never heard the NY media mention them or "hype" them up. So I haven't fallen victim to any "media hoopla and manipulation".

Looks like the Mets won't get Soriano anyways. There was an article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram a few days ago that said that the Rangers openly denied the trade rumors with the Mets.
