Re: Hunter tears something in leg
Rotoworld:
X-rays on Torii Hunter's left ankle were negative. The Twins are calling his injury a strained tendon.
He'll fly back to Minnesota tomorrow for an MRI. At the very least, it seems he'll miss the rest of the series against the Red Sox. He could miss considerably more time, depending on what the MRI discovers -
Re: Hunter tears something in leg
He'll be out 4-6 weeks atleast .. Twins shots at the postseason are diminishing

Re: Hunter tears something in leg
Wow. I was watching the Jays game and the announcers said done for the season. This is a lot better news. It seems like everyone was reporting that he was DFTS. Now the Twins need OF depth, a second baseman and a 3rd baseman.Comment

Re: Hunter tears something in leg
This injury could be killer to the Twins. First of all Torii, despite being streaky, is one of our better power hitters and has been a menace on the basepaths this year so this loss will be a huge hit to our already pathetic offense. Secondly, with our offensive woes, we have to rely on our defense even more which is where Torii really excels and often helps keep runs off the board. Lastly, and most sadly IMO this may take away from Torii's game since he plays CF with a reckless abandon and this injury may hinder that aspect of his game.
This puts even more pressure on our FO to make a move now. To me it will be inexcusable if we sit put.Comment

Re: Hunter tears something in leg
We need a major trade now to get back in the wild card race! I would like to get Alfonso Soriano, but that won't happen because the Twins don't have the money or at least thats what the owner says. Looks like we are done though, Torii is the heart and sole of our defense and now he is gone for awhile. Justin Morneau needs to step it up 10 knotches and start hitting some homeruns! Looks like we will have to start Lew Ford at centerfield. I really wish Jason Kubel(the Twins AAA outfield prospect) wasn't hurt right now. Last year we had all the depth in the outfield and now all we got is Lew Ford. Congrats to the White Soxs on winning the AL CentralColorado Avalanche (NHL)
