Mets Will not make a major trade!!
As a loyal Met fan I wold love to see them improve themselves. I doubt Manny will be traded which is just as well. The Sorreano deal looks dead. If they do make a deal it will be a minor deal. The team is just to far back to make a major deal unless somthing is thrown there way that they can't refuse. Maybe a Ron Valone type of deal could happen.

You may be right, one thing the Mets can not afford is to have a repeat of last season when they traded away their best prospects for Kris Benson and Victor Zambrano, neither deal made a difference as the Mets continued to scuffle and failed to make the playoffs. They should trade Anderson Hernandez of Victor Diaz for someone they may only have for a couple of months (Danys Baez). -

I have to disagree with you RSox. You get Manny and Baez and this is not a repeat of last year. Even if the Mets don't make the playoffs this year, this deal sets up the Mets for next year and after. I agree...I in fact don't think we did all that bad by getting Benson and Zambrano last year. Benson has pitched well, and we freed up 3B for David Wright by shipping off Wigginton to Pittsburgh. And it looks like we were right about Kazmir all along, that maybe he could use some more time in the minors, because he is getting shelled this year...IMO Zambrano has pitched well, but we just dont give him run support when he pitches. As far as this trade goes, I would love to see it happen. We would get a signifigant power boost in RF, as well as a good bullpen man, and in the scenario that we get Julio Lugo, we get a competent middle infielder to help with Matsui being out. I would be dissapointed to see us get rid of Lastings Milledge, but if we can make a trade like this and get a Manny Ramirez to bolster our outfield, I think it would be a great trade.Comment

Kazmir is being thrown to the wolves the way the Tigers handled their staff a few years ago, and Brazelton was last year.

The problem with this deal is.. who's Manny going to drive in? Maybe it's too soon to label Beltran a bust but he's done little. The rest of the lineup's gone cold. It really wouldn't be that significant of a boost to the lineup if there's nobody on base for Manny to drive in.Comment

Beltran has had a nagging injury all season, and has been known to be an every other year type player.
But to play both sides, he has also never DONE the potential he has. Its always been "he'll break out next year".Comment

With the Mets in a position to make a run, Beltran should either **** or get off the pot. If Beltran would've just **** to begin with, Manny would be a HUGE boost to the Mets lineup.Comment
