Cubs will end up with Soriano (IMO)

Knowing Hendry the Cubs will make a major move and I think it will come in the form of Soriano. Soriano says he wont play outfield but I think he would do it for the remainder of the season if the Cubs lock him up long term and move him back to 2nd base after the season.

The offer that has been rumored is Wellmeyer, Mitre, and either Pie or Rich Hill. A tiny ransom for the best 5 tool player in the game.

Giving up either Pie or Hill is no tiny ransom...Pie is a five tool stud who is only 20 or 21 and a likely cornerstone for the Cubs future. If Pie gets traded then Hendry's prestige drops in my book. Hill wouldn't be as large a loss due to our wealth of pitchers. Cubs seem to develop pitching much more effectively. But you don't send away talent like that on a possible year and a half rental.

And how is Soriano the best 5-tool player in the game? I'd consider an injured Beltran a better 5-tool player than him. I consider Carl Crawford to be a better 5 tool player than him. Soriano is a great player, but the best 5-tool player in the game he is not.

Just what the Cubs need more of, weak defense and strikeouts.

Best five tool player in the game? You realize one of the tools is defense, right?

The Cubs are awesome at trading away my favorite players and signing guys who aren't as likeable. Soriano, that'd be great, but don't get rid of Pie.

I would think the Rangers would want some pitching. Are Angel Guzman and Andy Sisco still in the Cubs organization?

Corey Patterson was suppose to be great. Kevin Orie was suppose to be the third basemen for the next 15 years. Brooks Kieshick was the end all be all power hitting minor league prospect. Bobby Hill was the prototype lead off second basemen Hee Shop Choi was a can't miss first basemen. Only a stupid baseball fan would not trade Pie of Hill for a Quality of player on the level of Soriano. Prospects are just that prospects. The Cubs will have 75 mil dollars free next year to acquire talent. Get Soriano!

                    Guzman is having arm trouble.

They plan on bringing Guzman back slowly, working him in the minors and then make him ready for the 06' season.

As far as the Soriano rumor, it's a rumor but I'd love to see Soriano with the Cubs. I've always loved Soriano, heck even has my number. (#12)
He would be a great addition, so I don't know what's the big dis on him.

But I will say this: It's not worth trading Pie and Hill for Soriano.

I don't think you should trade both of them but I can understand dealing one of them.

The New York Daily News believes the Twins are close to acquiring Alfonso Soriano for a package that would include Kyle Lohse.

J.C. Romero and Bret Boone have also been linked to the discussions, although the Dail News doesn't mention either. It's believed that the Mets are pretty much out of the hunt for Soriano, although the Cubs might not be. Jul. 31 - 4:15 am et
