    I'm just gonna paste what I wrote in the team thread:



    Does he honestly think Sturtze became one of Torre's "boys" as soon as he got here? When we traded for Sturtze... Yanks fans assumed he was going to be a minor leaguer who would occassionally get called up to fill in for an injured reliever. Guess what? He pitched great... and he earned Torre's trust as a pitcher.

    Following the Yankees for years... Torre has been notoriously known for having fallouts with pitchers who didn't feel like they were trusted by Torre. There was a whole chapter dedicated to this in The Last Night of the Yankee Dynasty by Buster Olney. Years later... the pitchers who had a problem with this finally realized that they had to earn Torre's trust to get the ball in big siutations. Groom wasn't good enough to earn Torre's trust.... and no one trusted him to come in to get a lefty out in a big at bat.

    Good riddance Groom. So much for being a wise veteran.
