    Re: Mazzilli=Fallman

I guess most of you haven't seen him manage day in and day out. Every game he makes a questionable call... from bringing in a relief pitcher at inopportune times, pinch hitting for a player that didn't make sense, leaving pitchers in too long / quick hook, completely obscene lineups, etc....

Sure, the timing of this firing is quite suspect, but long before the Palmerio incident, there was grumblings around Baltimore that his time was up at the end of the year. So don't think that Maz is taking the fall for Raffy, but Maz is definitely NOT a scapegoat for this team's collapse but a contributing factor.

Hopefully he finds a new coaching position soon.

Sam Perlozzo is the 6th manager the Orioles have used in the last 10 years and 4 of those years were managed by Mike Hargrove, so Mazzilli getting the axe after just over a season and a half is no real surprise. According to Jayson Stark "(Lee Mazzilli getting fired has) been rumored for a while now. If any team went from 14 games over .500 to 5 under in a month and a half, the manager would be in trouble.". It is no secret that Angelos wanted to fire him after last season, but as many have said Mazzilli didn't trade for Sammy Sosa and re-sign Sidney Ponson the dynamic duo Beattie and Flanagan did, perhaps the axe will fall for them this winter. It will be interesting to see who the Orioles target as their next manager, the Orioles job must be about as desireable as the Devil Rays job at this point. Who knows, maybe Lou Piniella...

Exactly. Not too mention he barely ever argues any bad calls. If you don't watch the O's games or keep up with the Baltimore media then you probably think this was a horrible firing. But if you do watch the games, etc. Then you damn well know this was gonna come sooner or later and it's good that we'll have a new manager next year.

I kind of questioned Perlozzo today when he put Sal Fasano at 1st base. WTF mate??? That is SO something Mazz would do.
