        that was hilarious when i saw it on sportscenter...when i was a kid we'd try this when we were playing in the playground...never really worked though

          I remember pulling this off in HS baseball. I played 1B, went back to the pitcher with the ball in the palm of my glove, stuck my hand in the pitchers glove like i was handing him the ball and went back to 1B. The kid was so mad when I tagged him out, he tried to punch me. Was pretty funny.

            Yeah that was funny. Also makes me wonder sometimes where these guys learned the game. Maybe my coaches stressed fundamentals more when I used to play. I dunno... Although I did have some incredible coaches when I grew up and in HS.

            Anyhow, first rule of thumb for any baserunner was to never leave the bag until the pitcher is on the mound. If the pitcher doesn't have the ball and is on the mound, it's a balk.

              I still think the best part about the play was that the guy on third would have been the tying run in the eighth inning, so it was really a key play
