It won't be their fault, though. The Cardinals and Astros will be ahead of them for a few years now. As long as Baker is the manager, I don't see them going anywhere for a while (and recall that I'm a Giants guy, that happened to respect Baker).



Buy or Sell: Todd Helton will leave the Rockies for a contending team next season.

Buy.

Call me a homer if you must, but I think Helton lands in Boston. It makes sense for both sides.

-Helton has publicly stated on the Dan Patrick show that he would love to play in Boston.

-He's built for Fenway, much like David Ortiz is. He can pull things down the line and push everything over or against the monster.

-The Red Sox are in a HUGE need for a first basemen. Kevin Millar, John Olerud, and Roberto Petegine will all be free agents after this season. They could possibly move Kevin Youkilis to first, but Bill Mueller is also a free agent.

-Colorado wants to dump his contract and focus around pitching. The Red Sox have 5 or 6 pitching studs in the minors including lefty Jon Lester and righty Anibal Sanchez. Both will be major league ready in a year or two.

Personally, it all makes sense to me...But what do I know? lol.

Sell...the A's are likely to unload Barry Zito's contract and use that trade to fill the few holes they will have, the players they do sign will mostly be minor league invites.

Buy. Bagwell will do everything in his power to finish his career... playing. I recall in 2002 there was a report (possibly just rumor) saying that 2006 was going to be his last year. If this is indeed the case, I don't want him to sort of just walk out of his solid career like McGriff or Bichette did.

As much as i would love to buy i'm going to have to sell...though with congress getting more involved in Baseball's bussiness with the steroid issue i would not be surprised to see either one of them resign at some point.

As much as I hate to say it...sell. If he doesn't return this year then he won't play another game again. He said he wants to be able to walk when he is older. I love the big man, though.

Sell - Manny Ramirez means to much to this team to trade him. The only way they trade him is if they got a Barry Bonds type player plus more. I think Manny remains a Red Sox.

Buy. He can't look at his outstanding success in the NL and say "walk away", but he will be playing only for the Astros. If you can have any kind of success at that age and remain healthy, I have to believe you'd want to continue playing as long as you can, despite how he feels about the HOF and all. I really hope he does continue playing, because he is very fun to watch. I'm sure it's got to be a good feeling to go out on top of your game, but if Roger leaves now he will be leaving ontop of his game like maybe no pitcher before him has, because he is literally pitching as good as he ever did, if not better.

Buy or Sell: The Reds Trade Ken Griffey Jr. in the off-season.

Sell. Not saying he won't do well, but look at the rest of the league: Roy Halladay, Mark Buerhle, Johan Santana, C.C. Sabathia, and Felix Hernandez. It is close, no doubt. I just don't think he will be it, though. Possibly second to any of these guys.

Buy or Sell: Brian Cashman and Joe Torre will get the can if the Yankees don't make the playoffs this year.

Buy. I think the only way Ca$hman sticks around is if they win the World Series. Torre might survive if they at least make the playoffs, though.
