    Re: Buy Or Sell? Thread

Buy. As long as the Braves win their division, he deserves it. He worked around C. Jones' and Hudson's injuries, and is working with three starting rookies a game. It's not easy, and the Braves climbed back up the ladder again (with the offensive help of Andruw Jones and Jeff Francoeur).

Buy or Sell: Bonds comes back next year... the Giants will be a .560+ team again.

This is a tough one, but I'll go with sell. The Giants will get a small boost from Bonds, but I highly doubt he'll be capable of hitting at least 40 home runs at his age. They still got a few holes and deadweights on the team that will hold them back even if Bonds is back. His presence alone cannot carry this team over .560.

Buy or Sell, the NL West will be lackluster next year.

Sell, Giambi looks to have his power back, but he'll fall just short of 40 next year.

Edit: Same with this post, there's a conspiracy!

Since some people might not catch it due to the forums acting weird, I'll repost my Buy and Sell:

I'll leave this one to someone else though... I'm not sold on anything myself.

Buy. I firmly believe that Derrek Lee's stats at the end of the season will not be fluke-stats. I didn't believe he was going to stay as strong as he was the first half of the season (Triple Crown numbers), but I believed he would get around where he is now. He's one of those guys that are actually progressing into a great player, rather than just having a fluke year and never getting those kinds of stats again (Javy Lopez, Adrian Beltre, Luis Gonzalez, Corey Patterson, etc.).

Buy or Sell: Sammy Sosa will be elected into the HOF first year, first ballot.

Sell, is he a HOF? Perhaps, but first ballot? No. His offensive stats do not merit a first ballot HOF. Let's not forget that he's fallen off the last couple of seasons, that definitely has some impact on his chances for being a first ballot HOF'er.

Buy or Sell: David Wright will win an MVP award in his career.

Thank you. I, myself, don't think he deserves to be a Hall of Famer. One stat, even if it's mind-bendingly large, doesn't really help your cause when not only do you not have any other standout stats, but they are so insignificant, that you would compare them to that of a bench player.

I really don't care about his three 60+ home run seasons... I really don't. Three seasons does not make you a Hall of Famer. And, finally, he's playing like I've expected him to be his entire career... because of the way he swings, and the way that he approaches his at-bats. I was wondering why he got those big home run seasons with the way that he swings the bat... it never made sense.

I'm not going to say it was steroids, either.

I would sell all the way on my own question.

I'm really not sure. He can only play about 20 years, and it's hard to be an MVP with everybody else you're competing with, especially in the National League. I'll say he has a fighting chance, but it will be later in his career... that, and he may have to leave New York to do it.

Buy or Sell: Barry Bonds will end his career as a DH in Anaheim.

Sell...He will end his career in SF and not DH for any team in the AL. Its clear Bonds and the Giants wants him to play his last season witht he Giants.

BUY OR SELL...Devil Rays will make the playoff's before the Royals do again.

Buy, plain and simply the D-rays are better than the Royals, and have a lot brighter future...except for the whole, Sox/Yankee's thing they have to worry about.

Buy or Sell: Neither the Red Sox or the Yankees make it to the ALCS(pending them getting into the playoffs at all.)

Sell... The Red Sox again will upstage the competition and make it back to the world series, but will lose this time around to the St. Louis Cardinals. There offense is too strong to be beaten by the league's elite pitchers, as some of them are no match against the heart of their order.

The pitching needs tinkering, and Curt Schilling will never be the same again, which is a missing puzzle piece from last season, but no one in the A.L. seems strong enough to take what they have on.

Buy or Sell: John Francouer hits the sophomore season wall, plummeting his average and power numbers, and knocking him to the back of the batting order.

He has no where to go but down...he's been amazing this season, so I'll buy it partially. He's going to be a special player because he can also play defense.

Sell. Aside from a team being on, there's nothing that turns a guy like him off. He has stuff, and he will keep it for the rest of his career. So, unless they get a mean scouting report on the guy, he looks like he'll be the real deal in the AL West.
