    Classic...

One of my friends in our fantasy league showed me this and I thought I would post it. This shows what a scumbag this cheater is. How can anyone defend this guy? He goes on the DL and disappears. I would LMAO if no one signed him next year. What a guy. Nice rip job by fanball.com. .221 Look out Mendoza.

Sep 5 Orioles outfielder Sammy Sosa may not be activated from the DL when eligible on September 10th. This is in part because the team hasn't been able to get in touch with the slugger. "It's not a big deal," Perlozzo told the Washington Post about Sosa's lack of communication. "We're just checking in with him."
Views: Given Sosa's troubles over the last couple years, don't be surprised when you reach his answering machine and hear, "Hello and welcome to the Sosa residents. If you're calling in regards to corked bats, please press one. If your call is in regards to drug testing, no hablo ingles. Any other inquiries, please leave a message and we'll get back to you when it's convenient for us." In all seriousness, Sosa may be doing the Orioles a favor given his lack of solid numbers this season. We'd like to see the club kick him to the curb in favor of prospect Nick Markakis, but that seems very doubtful at this point.

What's new? He's been missing the whole year...

In all honesty and seriousness, as long as his disappearance isn't because of Hurricane Katrina (involving him or any of his family members), I find it quite amusing, and he really would be helping the team if he didn't return.

Nice. Every now-and-then Fanball or Rotoworld has some nice, sarcastic blurbs about players. Gotta love that.
      MLB: Cincinnati Reds
      NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
      NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
      NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
      NHL: Calgary Flames

His downfall is truly amazing. 7 years ago, he was the most beloved player in baseball.

Meh... second most. I never agreed with that, though. Likewise, his approach or his statistics, and always thought that his stats were just really lucky. I mean, he's swinging the same he has been since his first 60 HR season. This is the kind of player I always thought he would be... this is the first time it's been seen, though.

I said it since the beginning of the year that if I were the Orioles manager, I would bench him from the start (not even seeing how well he would do), because it would be my belief that he would hurt the team more than help them. It is a big risk of being fired, yes. However, my reason holds water as a legitimate reason. Because of Sosa's lack of success, not only have they dropped way out of playoff contention, they are now 9 games under .500. Mazzili (sp?) was fired while having Sosa bat 2nd... perhaps benching him would've kept him there?

Oh well, what do I know, right?

Whatever the case is, he hasn't been missed by anybody... and that's a fact.

By continuing to sign guys like him, the O's once again prove to be one of the worst run (strategy wise) teams in the league.

I don't think strategy is a word found in the Beattie/Flanagan dictionary. But then, neither is pitching...

Just like the Red Sox signed Jay Payton?

Just curious, what does that have to do with anything or are you trying to start something?

When bashing a team... get your information right. Jay Payton was not signed by the Red Sox. He was traded there because the Padres were desperate for a CF that can steal bases. Don't try to compare two things that aren't similar.

                      Don't worry, I got it.

He was referring to the fact that the poster claimed the Orioles signed Sammy Sosa.

Trade or Sign, who cares. They're idiots for getting him at this stage of his career in any form. More than just this one incident, the O's just don't seem to understand that until they get any pitching above the AAA level, they're never going to win anything. Hasn't anyone learned from the Rangers yet?
