That is totally hilarious, LOL! Why in the world would that happen, and why would the Mets even consider this? They have Jacobs!!

The Red Sox need Beltran like they need to catch the plague and die.

If I were the Mets I'd trade Beltran for Manny in a heartbeat. Five more great years outta Manny is better than ten more so-so years from Beltran.

He could be the most overated FA aquisition in a looooooong time.

According to what Peter Gammons said the reason the Marlins would look to trade Delgado is 1) because of the Marlins financial losses (which is expected to exceed $30 million if they don't make the playoffs) and 2) so they can sign Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to long term extensions. This is nothing more than a rumor so take it for what it is. Also, take what the Marlins executive had to say with a grain of salt as well since the Marlins would not benefit from Delgado trade rumors with games still to play and a chance at the post-season on the line.

As for why the Mets would be interested in Delgado even though they have Mike Jacobs: easy, Jacobs was a Catcher before moving to First Base, the Mets could move Jacobs behind the plate to replace Mike Piazza. Potentially solving their Catching problems for the next few years and adding Delgado's bat in the proccess.

yeah yeah, that's all fine and dandy, but in what universe would the Red Sox trade Manny Ramirez, an RBI producing machine, for Carlos Beltran? especially considering the ammount of money both players are making and the difference in play between the two. The Red Sox are playing in a stadium where speed often goes unrecognized and is uneccessary. They don't need good defense or speed to win in that ballpark, and IMHO that's all that Beltran is really good for. His average might go up a little, but he still wouldn't produce manny numbers.

So the question remains....why trade a superstar for a super FAKE?
