Now we're down 1.5 with 12 to go and we're losing big early on to the Twins today. Meanwhile, the "Angel-food-cakes" are at home against the Tigers or something.
I can't take this kind of pressure. We have to win. We're 4 games out in the Wild Card and unless Cleveland and the Yanks start losing, we're out of that race. I know I've complained in the past about losing in the first round, but after last year, I decided it's better to lose in the first round than to not go to the playoffs at all.
So I have to start rooting against teams I wouldn't normally root against, and root for teams I wouldn't normally root for. When it comes down to it I am a playoff whore and I will do (almost) anything or root against/for anyone to get in. Here's my list:
Rooting for: White Sox. Why? If they can beat up on the Indians over the next 2 weeks that will help us out in the Wild Card standings.
Rooting for: Kansas City. Why? Same reason as before, they need to beat Cleveland later this week.
Rooting against: The Indians. I want to like them, but if this AL West Division doesn't work out, I need them to tank so we can get in with the Wild Card. It looks good too, since they still have 4 games to play agaisnt the White Sox and Tampa Bay has been playing better lately.
Rooting against: Yankees. Why? Wild Card, of Course. As a result:
Rooting for: Boston and Baltimore. Please, Boston, sweep the Yanks to end the year. Remember, I'm only rooting for Boston to sweep so that the Yanks fall in the wild card standings.
Rooting against: The Angels, of course. We really need a sweep in Oakland, and not just 3 of 4. We also need to beat Colone. Taht would demoralize the Angel-food-cakes. He is the center of that team's morale right now.
Rooting for: Texas, in a BIG Way. The only team facing the angels more than we are over the home stretch is the Rangers.
Rooting for: Tampa Bay. I just need them to go on a tear. They face the Angles and the Indians down this stretch. Pleeaaasse, TB, win one for the gipper!!!
