I just don't see Belliard solving the 2nd base problem.Comment

I certainly hope I'm wrong. I know he is good. I saw him play against us this year.
Its just that Luna was so young and had such a bright future.Comment

Belliard has the same batting average batting in the American League. He also has way better power numbers, and he always has a high total in doubles.
I'll analyze the trade with my two stats in my signature:
ABP
.475 - Hector Luna
.458 - Ronnie Belliard
RBIE%
.358 - Ronnie Belliard
.318 - Hector Luna
Total
.816 - Ronnie Belliard
.793 - Hector LunaSAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

Originally posted by xcelldarim31Thats very true, and sometimes its tough to give up young talent, but lately the Cardinals have been very shaky (I mean, getting swept by the Cubs in a 4-game series... you gotta start to worry). Luna only batted 2/10 that series and scored no runs, and only batted in 2 runs. They obviously need immediate help to make a push late in the season, and excel in the playoffs.

Which raises the question, "Who's the backup shortstop?"Comment
