This is why I hate the Yankees. Most other ballclubs would just promote someone from within the system, but no, not the Yankees. They think they have to go out and get some other teams pitching coach, and in this case, the best in the league. I really hope he turns it down, who would want George on there back all the time?

That would be a huge hire for the Yankees, but I'm not sure how much good he'd do with their current pitching staff. -

I know the Yankees are the team to hate, simply because of how they spend their moeny, but you have to admit when they spend the money, they spend it on good talent. There may have been a few guys that didnt work out too well, but they still have one goal in mind.. to win.
Yes you can be mad at the Yankees, but I think you should be mad at Mazzone if he actually agrees to coach the Yanks. But there is no way you should be frustrated with the Yankees becuase they are trying to get better.Comment

Leo Mazzone would be a great hire IF the Yankees are willing to build from within, cut salary and trade for YOUNG pitching. If it's the same ol' crap with older arms then Mazzone can only do so much. He's not a miracle worker y'know.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I dont see any way that Mazzone leaves, especially to still be a pitching coach, but would love it since the Marlins would get a chance at the East thenComment

maybe the Yanks will make him an associate manager. That's the only thing (other then money) that could entice him to go there. I don't really think pitching coaches make good managers but if there's an exception to that rule Mazzone would be it.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

We'll see what happens. I wouldn't think he'd leave the Braves, but if the Yankees offer him some rediculous contract I guess it could happen.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Yankees! Don't you even damn it!
I don't see why you should be mad at anyone here, especially the Yankees.
Teams hire away coaches all the time, you can't just say it's the Yanks who are guilty of this. The fact that they are interested in Leo doesn't surprise me in the least. The Mets have looked at him many times in the past, are you going to blast them for doing it as well, or is this simply just a reason for you to be able to complain about the Yankees? They are looking to hire someone who is going to better their organization ten-fold, how can you blame any club, the Yankees included, for wanting to do this?
Look, Leo has been with the Braves organization for 26 years. They are very fortunate to have had someone as loyal and gifted as Mazzone with them for that long. Any organization should be so lucky. It's a compliment to his success that teams are looking at him for possible managerial positions, and I'm very surprised that it's taken this long. Atlanta is obviously confident in his loyalty to the city if they have granted the Yankees permission to talk to him. If they doubted for a second that he would go elsewhere, obviously, they wouldn't have allowed it.
And if Leo does end up going to New York? Then so be it. It sucks that he would end up coaching the MF Yankees, but I would still be very proud of the accomplishments he achieved while with the Braves system.Comment

If he leaves the Braves, I'll CRY. He, Bobby, and John have been the reason we've won 14 straight division titles. (Some would say they're the reason why we've only won one World Series). Either way, I hope he doesnt go.Comment

Well at least the front office's head is finally in the right place, even though I don't see any chance of them luring him away from ATL."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

The problem is true though, the yankees are still after whatever is hot. And if they get him or whatever else is hot, I wanna see them crumble again. Sorry, but you can tell I don't like yankees either! Oh and it's not just the yankees who have one goal to win, I think every team in all of sports, and sports history has had that goal.Comment
