where do you think Manny will go?
The teams are all teams i've heard him going to. Apparently he told his agent to notify the Red Sox that he wants to go to LAA.

I've been hearing the Mets as well. My bet would be he goes to the AngelsComment

Re: where do you think Manny will go?
According to Manny's agent his preference is Cleveland or LAA. He does not want to play for the Mets, contrary to popular belief. Manny and his agent are meeting with John Henry this week but Henry claims its a routine meeting and isn't sure why people are speculating that Manny is asking to be traded.
In the end I think Manny stays in Boston because it will be nearly impossible for the Red Sox to get close to equal value in return from the teams Manny wants to play for. Manny also has his 10 and 5 rights which means he can veto any trade.Comment

Re: where do you think Manny will go?
Apparently, he's not interested in going to the Mets (or so his agent says). Article I read listed Anaheim and Cleveland as his current choices, if he was to leave, and as a 10-and-5 guy, he's got the right to veto any trade. Can't see either of those teams giving enough to Boston to make it worthwhile, and they won't trade him within the division, so Toronto's out. Unless a 3- or 4-way deal that brings something of real value shows up, he'll stay. Remember, they've tried to trade him each of the last couple of years, and it hasn't worked out yet.
EDIT: camulos, looks like you and I were writing virtually the same thing at virtually the same time.Comment

Re: where do you think Manny will go?
Originally posted by camulosNot only that, but they placed him on irrevokable waivers and nobody wanted him. The only way a team like LAA or Cleveland would take him is if the Red Sox were paying part of his salary, which would be just plain ******** considering thats the only remotely good reason to ship him out.Comment

Re: where do you think Manny will go?
Originally posted by CWood2Either that, or Boston management needs to come up with a new excuse because after their face-to-face with Manny, I get the feeling that "Manny being Manny" isn't going to fly in the board room and both parties are going to kill each other or part ways. Lucchino and Co. clearly can't stand the guy and Manny isn't happy with the media-driven environment. In other words, when they make the trade we're all bracing for, I better not hear "financial flexibility" in the explanation. It's bad enough having Ted Kennedy to listen to in this state...I better not hear it from the suits of Red Sox baseball.Comment

Re: where do you think Manny will go?
I expect Manny to stay with the Sox.
There's no chance Manny is going to the Jays unless JP wants to offer up Doc. And of course JP would never do that.
If Manny was going to be dealt, it would be better if he was shipped to the NL.
The best trading partner would be the Halo's. Next to the D-Rays, I have the Halo's farm system ranked at number 2 in all of baseball. You could even make a case they have the best.
Kotchman, Mathis, Saunders, Wood, Kendrick, and Morales would attract attention from every team out there.
If the Halo's called up Theo (assuming he re-ups) and offered Wood, Kotchman, and Kendrick for Manny, I'm sure Theo would offer to drive Manny to the airport.Comment

I know Manny brought up the Angels, but do you think they could afford him with Vlad, Finley and Anderson in the OF? Again, if our hands were tied, I'd favor this type of deal by leaps and bounds compared to getting a contract like Beltran in return and spend the money saved on another bat. The problem in my mind is getting a team to absorb the contract and give up prospects, who won't alleviate anything financially for them.Comment

Originally posted by CWood2If we had to trade him, there are a lot of prospects that attract me in that organization. I'm assuming Santana wouldn't be available, but all the guys you listed are pretty good. We wouldn't need Mathis, but I'm not sure I'd want Kotchman...he seems tough to project and maybe not as good a hitter as Kendry Morales.

Finley comes off the payroll after next season and they have so many prospects ready to step in the next 2 seasons and provide great value for min/near min wage they can afford to take on Manny's contract.Comment

Originally posted by camulosAs shaky as their front office situation is right now with Theo unsigned and Lucchino's clear hatred for Manny, I still have faith in John Henry. He is a very intelligent man and I would be surprised if he allowed Manny to be traded for something that doesn't legitimately improve the team.Comment

I would love for Manny to come back so he would go in as an Indian to the Hall, but I think we would have to give up Sizemore and Lee to get him and I don't think we would do it.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: where do you think Manny will go?
I can't see the Angels taking a big chunk out of their farm system just to get Manny. Its not like they haven't got RBI makers on the team and are in need of offense
On a completely unrelated note, anyone see the story on http://www.bostondirtdogs.com about Manny not giving up any of the dough his agent(s) have said he would to local Latino charities in Boston or to his high school baseball team? Guess its just Manny being MannyBoston Red Sox 2004, 2007 World Series Champions
