Dusty Baker, doesnt want to root for anybody in the playoffs.

Like all bitter Cub Fans, Dusty is another moron thats bitter about the White Sox World Series run.

In a recent article in ESPN the magazine, when a reported asked Dusty who would he root for he had this to say:

''I got no one to root for,'' Baker said. ''I sure as heck ain't rooting for the White Sox or Cardinals. But maybe Atlanta since they've won all those divisions but only one championship. The Angels just won it against me, so forget them. Anyway, fishing season starts in November. That's my time.''

This is what pisses me off about Cub Fans. When you guys were in the playoffs a couple years ago, I cheered for you guys. Not because I liked the Cubs, but because I cared about the City of Chicago and wanted them or someone to bring home a World Series ring. Now that we're in the same situation as you guys (the Cubs), you guys can't even root for us? And at the same time, root AGAINST us??? How can Cub Fans be so bitter? White Sox or Cubs, they are both from CHICAGO. If you are a true Chicagoan, you would root for them to succeed.

I can see a total different atmosphere if it was a Cubs/White Sox series, but its not. Please stop the bitterness and be glad that our 90 year curse is almost gone!!

The best part is that Ozzie is really ticked off at Dusty, because they are friends and Ozzie took it to heart when Dusty said he wasnt rooting for anybody.

Hey DUSTY, maybe you should stop chewing on those toothpicks and actually do something productive with your team. Yeah I bet your glad its fishing season, because that might be the only sport your worthy of being good at. Dusty, get the hell out of Chicago, because speaking from a fan of ALL CHICAGO TEAMS .... I DESPISE YOU!
Anyways enough of this rant, I cant believe some bubblehead such as Dusty, can get me so mad at such a time like this. I'm so excited for tonight!!!

Re: Dusty Baker, doesnt want to root for anybody in the playoffs.

I would be really interested to find out why White Sox fans seem to have such a huge chip on their shoulder. It really is intriguing to see an entire fanbase take even the smallest, most irrelevent comments directed at them and turn them into some huge us-against-the-world depiction. I really don't understand the mindset, especially in this case.

Dusty Baker isn't going to root for his crosstown rivals in the playoffs? Really, you don't say. I'm shocked. Appalled even. Seriously, I'm surprised the guy even admitted that he was considering rooting for any team at all. Even as merely a fan of another team, I don't feel even the slightest bit enclined to root for another team now that mine is inactive. Why should someone who is paid to lead another ML franchise be expected to do so? And why even act the slightest bit surprised when they state they aren't going to root for either of their rival clubs? Shouldn't that be the most obviously blatant thing in the baseball world?

Yeah, I think formemost you are speaking for most Cubs fans. Why is this dolt still here? And btw, I think a lot of Cubs fans want the White Sox to win so that the Tribune (which it is being speculated might sell the team) will be put front and center for there incompetence, greed, and general lack of ethics.

Maybe you should of read the article, before jumping to the conclusion. First of all, if your in a city that has had a World Series drought as bad as Chicago, you would want a team to flourish if they ever made it as far as the White Sox have.

If you dont, then your being greedy. Yes you are paid to lead your franchise to a World Series victory, but if your team cannot do it, why not root for a CHICAGO team. You don't live in Chicago, so you wont understand what I'm talking about. But sometimes, there comes a sacrafice that you have to make. I know plenty of Cub Fans, that LOVE the Cubs, but hate the Sox. But they know baseball. They know our city. They know what we've been through, whether it was the Billy Goat, Black Sox, Steve Bartman, etc. Winning a World Series FOR THE CITY OF CHICAGO should be a blessing to the City. The White Sox arent winning it for the White Sox. They're winning for Chicago.

I don't blame Baker, sure he is a moron but who cares if he roots or doesn't root for the ChiSox? He doesn't have to root for any team in the league if he so chooses.

Also I like Guillen but hes on crack if he seriously thinks the Sox are going to own Chicago, the Cubs will always own Chicago, the Sox are just the other team that plays there.

              I don't think Dusty is wrong...either way..

It's not like he is from Chicago and has endured years of futility like the majority of Chicagoans.

To him the White Sox is more than likely just another ball club that happens to play in the same city.

If I were a Cubs fan I would want the White Sox to lose.

They're a rival, from the south side, and not all that likeable.

I still feel crummy because my dad paid more attention to my brother than me. Maybe I should start a thread about it...

... or maybe just enjoy the fact my favorite team is about to win the WS.

Is it just me, or are most of the White Sox fans here the most annoying, negative nancies I've seen in awhile? I thought a lot of the Red Sox fans were pretty bad (and I'm a Red Sox fan, by the way) with the negativity (thankfully, those Red Sox fans seem to dissappear in the offseason). Just shut up and watch your team, who cares if someone doesn't like them?!

Bro, I'm from Chicago and have been a Cubs fan for 25+ years. I can't stand Dusty Baker because he just can't get his facts straight and even manage the Cubs properly besides chewing on sunflower seeds and playing with toothpicks thinking he's the next Razor Ramon all game long.

I think your opinion is way off and granted it's your opinion. When I have been watching the news all week, the first thing out of some of the Sox fans mouths is disturbing.

ONE SOX FAN - "Cubs, we are going to show you how to get the job done with Houston".
ANOTHER SOX FAN- "Bartman this, Bartman that".

Instead of some Sox Fans concentrating on their own team, they worry about the other team in the city. That is sad. There is a stronger rivalry here than you think. I live on the South Side of Chicago which is SOX fans, but I grew up watching the Cubs since I was 3.

Back in 2003 I received so much grief from Sox fans who would tell me that they would watch the Cubs play just to see them lose or they hope the team dies. Common dude, Sox fans aren't saints and are just as bad as some Cubs fans.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe in the theory that because the Sox are in the WS that I'm going to root for them because I'm from Chicago and that there is a drought. I'm a hardcore Cubs fan and there is no way that I'm rooting for the SOX with the crap that I have had to endure over the years. Speaking of droughts, I'm not thinking about the CHICAGO drought, I'm thinking about the CUBS drought. You might be in the minority that roots for both teams, but I always believe that you are either for one team or the other.

If you didn't root for the Cubs the last 2 years since they were in the playoffs, and lets say they made it next year. Isn't that something called BANDWAGON jumping? I don't know, just my thoughts.

If the SOX win tonight, I'm happy for you and the rest of the SOX fans. But I'm not going to run out and buy a jersey or a hat to root for the SOX. Hopefully the Tribune company opens their eyes that it takes more than just having the park filled on a daily basis for years to not care on the mediocre players that have been brought in the last 2 years.

Your complaining because someone isn't rooting for your team?

                        Unreal.

The white sox are a great team and a lot of fun to watch, but it's hard to root for them when I read posts like this.

This board sure is going to be run tomorrow or whenever they clinch.

The problem I have is we get no love from the entire city of Chicago. Just like what the original poster stated we've got vindicitive Cubs fans who are rooting against us. Why?

Even if we do win the World Series the Cubbies will still be the lovable Chicago team. BUT we will be recognized as a 'Chicago' team instead of just the team on the 'southside'.

Maybe you guys would get more respect if you actually filled your stadium during the regular season.

Adding to that point, why aren't you in a bar (or if you aren't old enough, at some sort of party) or even at the game? You're a huge Sox fan, yet you are posting on a message board while they are about to clinch.

I'm a Cubs fan rooting for the Sox simply because based on the pattern, I think the Cubs will win it next year. Red Sox, White Sox, Cubs. 3 longest droughts ended in order. Sounds pretty sweet to me!
