    possible new 2bman for Mets?

    http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/a...=.jsp&c_id=mlb..

that would be sweet seeing Reyes & him at the top of the lineup - & no more Matsui, who i think the Mets may let go back to Japan...

I was about to post this... if Furcal comes here (Mets), then I don't know if it would work, because just the same way Reyes is a natural shortstop, Furcal has too much of a gun to be put at second base. Maybe we can find someone else... who? I don't know.

Only other Options I've heard are Mark Grudzelanek, Todd Walker, Bill Mueller, and our own prosepct Anderson Hernandez. I'm all for Furcal at 2B.

Not me- for reasons I stated earlier. Anderson Hernandez needs a little more time in the minors, but Bill Mueller and Mark Grud-z deserve a lot more credit than they get. Look at their stats this year.

        Bill Mueller: .295/10/62
        Mark Grud-z: .294/8/69

Those are pretty good stats. I don't know what's not to like about those stats.

Here is Furcal: .284/12/58, 46 SB

You can get Mueller and Grud-z cheap, and according to the stats, they're pretty much equal. Tell me what you all think about this.

If money is needed elsewhere, Those are very good options. Especially if Anderson needs more time. Or you can go the other route, get Furcal, and use Anderson in a trade. I dont know how Mueller is as a 2B, but he is a good solid bat in the lineup.

Money is needed elsewhere. Pitching. Starting Pitching. Relief Pitching. Catcher. Pitching. Pitching. Mr. Gryoball.

Furcal sure is an upgrade, but I don't think it would be worth it for the Mets. The Mets would probably have to overpay for him to move from shortstop. Sure having 2 50 steal guys is great having at the top of the lineup. But I would think you would more of a productive hitter than just basically 2 of the same type slasher type hitters. IMO Furcal wouldn't be worth the money.

Bill Mueller is not open to playing second base. His knees are in bad shape and he told the Red Sox he could only play the position in an emergency situation as he's one take-out slide away from retirement.

That would be a lot of speed at the top of that lineup.

If Furcal signs with the Mets it will be all about the Money. He is too good a shortstop to play second base. I think he is a good player but I think the Mets could find better ways to spend their money.

Scratch Todd Walker from the list, the Cubs picked up his option yesterday.
