Justice for the O-Dog. He got shafted last season when Bret Boone won the award.
V-Dub finished the season without commiting one error.
I would like to know how Jeter won another gold glove. He's not even the best defensive SS in the AL East. -
Re: Wells and the O-Dog named Gold Glovers
Chavez didn't deserve it this year, I would have liked to see A-Rod get it. I'm surprised that Jeter won again this year didn't think he would. He was excellent defensively again this year and I'm happy for him. Hunter probably didn't deserve it either I mean he missed like 60 games or so.Last edited by nyyanksfan20; 11-01-2005, 06:42 PM.Yankees

Re: Wells and the O-Dog named Gold Glovers
Now would not be a bad time for JP to trade Odogg with his value at a high right now. I'd like for him to stay though.
But on the subject of the GG, anyone who disputes this is crazy. Especially the Odogg selection. That man is the best defensive player we've had since Robbie A. Some people think he's just as good.Comment

Re: Wells and the O-Dog named Gold Glovers
Hudson is a stud defensive player, and as Roberts is as deserving as well, Wells I think beats him out.
I also think that instead of Varitek of winning a gold glove, that Bengie Molina shouldve won it. He was more solid behind the plate than Jason.
He had a better caught stealing percentage but I think because Bengie missed nearly 60 games, he wasnt awarded a gold glove, although I think he was well deserving.Angels World Series Championships : 2002

Re: Wells and the O-Dog named Gold Glovers
The Gold Glove is a pretty stupid award--seems to be more of a popularity contest than anything. There are certainly some deserving winners each year, but once a guy's name gets attached to the award at that position--like Torii Hunter, for example--he's going to get it more often than not, regardless of the actual quality of his play. Anyone else remember the year Raffy Palmeiro won the award for first basemen despite playing the overwhelming majority of his games at DH?Comment

Re: Wells and the O-Dog named Gold Glovers
Jeter Over OC?..OC was the better defender.
What about Adam Kennedy although him and Orlando had the same FPCT. So that could have gone either way.
How does Eric Chavez when a gold glove with a FPCT of .966?
People at 3B that should have gotten it:
Hank Blalock (.973)
Alex Rod: (.971)
Catcher: V-Tek (.990)
Victor Martinez?, Posada?, Pudge? Kendall?
OF: Torri Hunter is the only one I have a problem with here he had a .987 FPCT...Wheres Crawford? The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

Can't just use fielding percentage as your main basis.
Rate is one of the better stats to measure how good a fielder is. Probably is the best in fact. Hudson had a rate of 114 compared to Kennedy's 103. There is no debate here. ODogg was the best at his position bar none.Comment
