Furcal in center for the Yanks?
Here's a paragraph from the newly promoted Ken Rosenthal (he's now senior baseball writer for Foxsports.com)
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman asked one of Furcal's representatives if Furcal would be willing to play center. Furcal, 28, likely will rule nothing out at this early stage of free agency — he routinely shags fly balls with Braves teammate Andruw Jones and jokes about replacing him in center. He not only is athletic enough to play the position, but also could bat leadoff for the Yankees, forming a dynamic 1-2 combination with Derek Jeter.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Furcal in center for the Yanks?
If he can play it then that would make sense for the Yankees. He certainly has the speed for it and will get a chance to show off his arm a bit more. If speed made you a good centerfielder though, then Alex Sanchez would still have a job. Still, he may be better than any of the other options out there, aside from Hunter. -
Re: Furcal in center for the Yanks?
Damnit, stop taking all the best players and making them play in unnatural places just because you love jeter so damn much. Furcal is too damn good at short to be forced to play in the OF. He's a god in the infield. Even if he was awesome in the OF, he wouldn't be nearly as good as he is at Short. Same as with Arod at third. I'm still pissed about that one. Ridiculous...Comment

Re: Furcal in center for the Yanks?
Originally posted by StoudWherever he goes, I hope he stays a shortstop. We need more shortstops like him in the Majors. If we just keep taking all the good shortstops and dumping them at different positions...well...I don't even want to know what will happen.....
Then whenever we see a potential double play... The ball would somehow end up in left field...Comment

Originally posted by slugger393Well, if you do that you end up with Chipper Jones winning an MVP as a third basemen, and Andruw dominating with hits streak of gold gloves. Both players were SS's before the pros. In fact, pretty much all professional position players that aren't 1b or left-handed probably were drafted as SS's, or played SS but were drafted as other positions.
He's talking about taking established Pro's, and all-stars at shortstop and switching them to 3B/CF just to add more star-power(which hasn't worked yet.)Comment
