well i know he wasnt coming to the mets anyhow, but why would that be unnecessary? considering Tikey is an AAAA outfielder... too good for AAA, but he is not a pro...

all I have to say is wow regardless if Redman isn't all that good. This deal is just wow. What about Nady? The Mets get Delgado so there goes his chance at 1st and then now he's left to platoon in RF with Diaz,Then they add Redman.

Redman gives the Mets a decent 5th Outfielder and Pinch Runner, nothing more.
Nady will get plenty of chances to play, he can backup Delgado at 1B, fill in for Diaz in RF and with Cliff Floyd always a question to stay healthy he could see a good amount of time in LF. And with Marlon Anderson gone Nady will probably become the Mets primary Pinch Hitter.

Redman is actually a decent bench player. He's not good defensively, but will provide the Mets with some speed on the bases and a decent LH bat on the bench. Although his speed hasn't translated into stolen bases over his career.

I've always been a fan of Redman, but he's not a guy the Pirates can afford to keep at this point. He's a role player on a better team.

You sound like the Padres. That's what they said you'll back up Nevin and play some 3rd base and we'll get you grounders to take over 3rd. But wait the Padres went out and traded for Randa and he lost time. Then they wanted to get Nady more time to play so they trade Nevin. But then he platoons with Fick and Sweeney. So No, I don't see him getting anymore chances than what he had here in SD.
