Re: Furcal race down to 3 teams...
The more I think about it, the more I regard Furcal as one of the better values on the FA market this year. Given the dearth of good leadoff hitters in MLB these days, a guy with a lifetime .348 OBP who can steal between 40-50 bases and who plays a position where it's tough to generate offense is a pretty good buy.
That said, I'm sure he'll be overpaid like everyone else has been during this offseason. But if my team had a hole at SS and was lacking some OBP and speed at the top of the lineup (as most teams are these days), I think Furcal is a very good buy.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Re: Furcal race down to 3 teams...
Take the money and run, Raffy!
He's a nice little player, but he ain't worth that kind of money. I think the Braves would be better off going with Betemit at short (or another cheap alternative) and using the money saved to patch up some of the other holes on the team, closer in particular.
Either way, I hope Furcal makes up his mind by the weekend so we know where we stand going into the Winter Meetings. I expect the Braves to be very active, regardless.
If Furcal does leave, I just hope we don't end up trading Marte for someone like Julio Lugo...Last edited by bravosfan; 12-03-2005, 12:51 AM.Comment

Re: Furcal race down to 3 teams...
Man if I were Furcal, there's no way you can pass up that money the Dodgers are giving him. Plus after that's up, he can sign another gigantic deal at age 31.. Let the Dodgers overpay!I do because I can, I can because I want, I want because you say I can'tComment

Fucal Update
On 670 The Score in Chicago, George Ofman is reporting that the Furcal Sweepstakes is now down to the Dodgers (3 yrs. 39 mil.) and the Cubs (5 yrs. just under 50 mil.) He also said a decision from Furcal will be made at the latest, tomorrow at noon.Last edited by Macar91; 12-03-2005, 07:55 PM.Originally posted by billmaticRadman is more like the ******** homeless man's version of Okur.Comment
