    Garciaparra to the Indians?

Rumors are we may try to sign Normar. I don't know how much he has left in the tank, but if he can regain his play from a few years ago, he'd be a HUGE signing in Cleveland.

And where will he play? Peralta should be stuck at SS for years to come, I would think.

Talk is 3rd, 1st, or RF.

Dang, If he played just a bit decent he would be upgrade over Boone at 3rd base and could really give the Indians that extra consistent bat they need

If only the Twins werent' so cheap, they could sign him to play 3B. On twinsbaseball.com they had a thing about Nomar, but there's no chance Minny would give him what he wants. I think Nomar ends up in a Marlins uni.

In a Marlins uniform? Um if you haven't noticed Florida is basically giving away its top talent. I doubt Nomar goes there.

As for Nomar in Cleveland it could be a good signing depending on the money and on if Nomar returns to form. I think he has a little bit left in the tank. You don't just suddenly lose it at age 31. The guy has GOT to have at least 3 years left in him.

I'd hate to loose Booney at 3rd after him coming around late in the season last year.... Now I wouldn't mind him taking over in RF for Blake who is a bum. At first as long as they bring up Garko to platoon with Benny I think we'll be fine. If Hafner, Boone, and Martinez actually hit at the beginning of this year, look out cause I think we can make some real noise this year.

I read on SoSH that someone once spoke with him about possibly moving to the OF and he seemed like he would never agree to that under any circumstances. But I guess alot has changed and weirder things have happened.

I could see him at 1B. Especially since he wouldn't be needed to throw much if at all.

I think he might stay on the west coast though, closer to home. Probably with the Dodgers.

From what I have heard, Peralta may move to 3rd, and therefore Nomar would be at SS. Then you have Aaron Boone platooning all across the infield. Not bad if you ask me.

                    Re: Garciaparra to the Indians?

I doubt any team is going to offer Nomar anything more than a one year incentive based deal. I have a feeling he or Thomas will become the best bargain FA.

His second-half numbers(.318/.347/.531) was nearly in tune with his career numbers (.320/.367/.544).

I would love to see the Jays take a run at him. He could spend most of time at DH and fill in at 3B or SS from time to time.

The bats on the Tribe are already scary, Nomar would even make them more deadly.

I'm surprised a team like the A's hasn't shown any interest in him. Nomar strikes me as a guy that is vastly under-valued right now.

no I'm pretty sure Jhonny stays at SS and Boone stays at 3rd, I believe Nomar is strictly being looked at as a 1st basemen, or a RF.

I heard the Orioles had Nomar all but signed and would announce at the start of the Winter Meetings.

Damn, I need to keep up on my baseball rumors, especially for my own team. I personally would love this for the Indians cause A.) I think he still has something left in him, and B.) I just wanna yell "NO-MAHHHHHHH" at the top of my lungs like a Boston person

Honestly though, I'm not sure if I'd rather have him at 1B or RF. I'm really intrigued w/ what they're gonna do w/ 1B (Garko, Broussard, Nomar, etc), and I do think Blake could stand to have some more time on the bench.

I hope they get him (the Tribe) I think that his bat could be a huge lift, especially if the guys keep up their play from the last half of this past season...

Nomar balked at the idea of moving to the Outfield before parting ways with the Cubs, and with a history of hamstring problems i'm not sure the OF is the best place for him.
With the Dodgers, Orioles, Blue Jays and Red Sox all in the market for a First Baseman the Indians would have no trouble trading Broussard, leaving Nomar as a stop gap untill Garko is ready.
