    Farnsworth to Yanks

ESPN.com is reporting that the agent for Kyle Farnsworth has informed the Braves his client will be signing with the Yankees. On paper, it's a good move but Farnsworth has one year wonder written all over him, in my opinion, he looks like a bust waiting to happen. Still, with Gordon likely out of the picture he's a good pick-up.

I like this move. There's a good chance that Farnsworth will blow up in New York, like many other pitchers have, but I have faith in him. I think he has a chance of being pretty good. He really showed me something with the Braves.

Like...not to put too much stock into him right now, but if he does work out this will be a pretty big signing for the Yanks.

I'm not a Yankee fan, I think that is abuntantly clear, but I do like it when any team makes a good signing.

I'm loving this move as a Yankee fan... we are deepening our Bullpen, and adding someone with a competitive drive that wants to win even if he's not the most gifted pitcher.

He can be used in between Sturtze and Gordon now...

last couple years Sturtze has been overworked, and he can be too inconsistent to work that often. On the same token, Gordon is too old to pitch in 80 or more appearances... LETS GO FARNSY!!!

My favorite thing about Farnsworth is he throws really fast and he is nuts.

Meh. I didn't like him when he was with the Cubs. Too inconsistent.

The last time the Yanks took on a Leo Mazzone reclaimation project, we all know what happened.

You beat me to that, hopefully Farnsworth is different.

Not true. Check out his numbers with Detroit last year, pre-Mazzone.

This is a huge signing, not so much because of the star value and/or very talented but who he's replacing. Scott Proctor, Wayne Franklin, Alan Embree, Felix Rodriguez, Jason Anderson, and Al Leiter. Enough said.

Your going to have to re-sign Gordon too, just to let you know. With this signing, it looks the Yankees aren't planning to do that.

Well, he will be a great guy to bring in during the Red Sox vs. Yankees brawls.

More likely, he's replacing Tom Gordon.

But hopefully Gordon can't get a closers job and he returns.

I wish we would sign Gordon, and not have picked up the option on Sturtze.

I really think Sturtze is fine also long as Torre doesn't overwork him so much, meaning if Sturtze comes into the year as the 7th inning job hes going to suck. But if he has no real role I think he could be fine. If we could get Gordon and Farnsworth that would be the best of both worlds and then Sturtze could move into a smaller role.

Well so much for that idea as it looks like the Phillies signed Flash.

Farnsworth deal should be done tommorow as the Yanks are running out of options.

Thats true, and although I don't believe Kyle Farnsworth has the same stuff that Tom Gordon has in terms of skill, I do believe that a younger arm that can endure consecutive appearances will benefit the Yanks.
