This would be a major upgrade for the Twins.

He's not as fast as he used to be. Still pretty good glove though. Tough to strike out and he gets on base. I was hoping he would be included in the Delgado trade.New York Mets

Re: Luis Castillo To Twins?
See this is another reason why I hate Cubs management. (I'm more of a Sox fan btw)
Here is a guy capable of stealin 20+ stolen bases and has a gold glove mentality. Hes a great defender, and as someone has stated in an earlier post, he still gets very good OBP.
Imagine the middle infield for the Cubs being Furcal and Castillo.
Very good dont you think? Imagine how many turned DP they may have together.
BUT NO!!!! The Cubs probably wont want him. Even if the Marlins wanted a splinter from Sammy Sosa's old corked bat.
If they sign Furcal. Great, your at least trying to win your division. But if you think signing one high price player, to satisfy all the fans need for hope of a winning season, your wrong.
Please trade Patterson and Walker to Castillo. Maybe even send them a few minor leaguers.
Imagine..
Furcal
Castillo
Lee
Ramirez
Pie in CF.
I think thats capable of winning 20+ more games than last year.Comment

Now, in a strong closer-free agent market. Not to mention a lot of other closer under contract looking to get dealt to other teams who do the Cubs turn to? Ryan Dempster. Yes, he had 33 saves last year BUT Boroawski had 33 saves in 2003 and look what happened after that. They just don't learn. Oh well, Sox rule Chicago.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Originally posted by DiceAre you shocked? The Cubs for the second year in a row failed to shore up the closers role with a proven player. Last year Troy Percivel was available and I can't remember but someone else was available and they stuck with Boroawski and LeTroy Hawkins. We all know how that turned out.

Percival lost the closers' job in April last year! I'm glad they didn't get him. Dempster did very well in the strech run last year as the closer. Having LaTroy did hurt the Cubs at the beginning last year, but they got rid of him for maybe the future closer, Aardsma.
The difference is that Borowski was hurt and that really affected his pitching. I really think Dempster can succeed as the closer in Chicago for at least next year, maybe more. If he fails, Howry, Eyre, Van Buren, or Aardsma are there to step in and hopefully get the job done.Originally posted by billmaticRadman is more like the ******** homeless man's version of Okur.Comment
