Well, I take it we're not trying to resign Milwood then, oh well. I woulda like to have seen him back, but we sure as hell better re-sign Elarton

yeah, that's exactly why the Angels passed on him.

Damn, they definitely overpaid for Byrd, even though I do like the signing.

Indians are going to be damn good next year.

dang, well I'm hoping we still pick up Millwood, or at the least Elarton. So right now our rotation is....

            C.C.
            Jake
            Cliff
            Byrd
            ???- Elarton

              I like the signing.

If you want to focus on the dollar amount, fine by me. But if that's what you're concerned with, then prepare for a long winter, because everybody is getting paid too much, and quite frankly there's nothing you can do about it. It's like...why worry about something if you can't change it?

What I'm looking at is that the Indians pick up another #3 or 4 that they were missing when they lost Millwood, and they probably got him for cheaper than Millwood in this FA market. Byrd proved last season that he still has what it takes to win games. On a team that has the young talents of Cliff Lee, C.C. Sabathia, and Jake Westbrook, Byrd can be assured a spot in the rotation where he can face off against other starters that he can win against. With this Indians team? I smell success. I think he made a pretty good choice.

The problem this year is if you need to sign a pitcher, you're going to overpay because of the teams that started the signings. Can't really complain though. Its close to what we paid for Milwood last year, he's had an ERA under 4 for the past three years, and he's a veteran. Now we just need a closer (Wickman, Hoffman, or trade for Baez), another starter (Milwood, Elarton, trade maybe but doubtful), and a 1B or OF

I'm still confused as to why they need a 1B when they have broussard and Hafner. Having 3 first basemen seems a little much to me. I can understand wanting an OF, then Blake could be a utility man and you'd have a solid OF, but the 1B thing throws me for a loop. Sometimes even when things are staring me in the face, I can't understand it. I've got this feeling that this is one of those things.

They don't feel Broussard is starting-material, so they want to either get Nomar, or try out Ryan Garko at 1B, even though he struggled a little at fielding in the minors at 1B.

and Hafner is pretty much strictly a DH right now. I really want Garko to get a look, I know he may be kinda iffy in the fiel but the boy can rake.

Haha, well, from what I heard after his first few games at 1B, iffy might be a compliment for him, haha. But with a little practice I think he'll be just fine.
