If Selig has any respect for the sport he would shoot down any trade with those two, because there is absolutely no reason other than a fire sale. You cant claim to be going for youth, and the two dont make any money as it is. Under $800 K COMBINED last year I believe.

Alright, Atlanta should jump on this and get Cabrera. That would make me and every Braves fan happy. Trade Marte and other prospects, IDC bring in Cabrera now.Comment

Of course people that don't watch the Yankees often don't understand why you wouldn't give up Wang and Cano, but those that see both of them on a pretty consistant basis do...
Wang can start or come out of the pen. Have people forgotten just how many starters this team has anyways?
Do you really want Womack at 2B instead of Cano? Hell no. Cano came up in very clutch moments last year and he's only going to get better.
And it's funny how people bitch and moan because the Yankees sign huge stars, but when they decline it, they're scoffed. It's a lose-lose situation.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Because I think Wang is going to be a very, very good pitcher in the majors. Maybe not as good as Willis, but I can deal with that. I'm so ****ing sick of all these FA pitchers who come to the Bronx and absolutely blow goat dick. And there aren't tons of good second basemen around the majors, Cano could turn out to be a Top 5 second basemen. If they were old has-beens or never-were's then that's fine. But I wouldn't trade two players under 24 years old who both had impressive rookie seasons and if it wasn't for the two of them the team probably wouldn't have made the post season.
It takes a certain type of person to be able to perform in pinstripes, and knowing our luck lately if we aquired Willis we'd ruin his career."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

A lot of people in baseball would agree that Hanley (probably overrated, yes) and Anibal Sanchez have more upside and trade value than Cano and Wang, and Dontrelle is BETTER than Josh Beckett. See where I'm going with this...Comment

Re: Willis and Cabrera trade thread...
When you get burned after so many years by big name free agency players, especially pitchers, you tend to not want to go that rout.
Don't get me wrong, I would love Willis to be in pinstripes, but I do feel that Cano/Wang are too much. I also believe Cano for Pierre is too much.
Like ehh said, Cano could very well be a Top 5 second basemen.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Re: Willis and Cabrera trade thread...
Pierre for Cano isn't that hot, agreed. As far as Dontrelle, when you find a left-handed ace with a glowing personality and even better stuff who can probably pinch hit for your team because he's so athletic, I'd empty out my pockets. Plus, Pavano and Wright were huge gambles, both coming off of career years (one thanks to Leo Mazzone) which can now be categorized as bad investments. Dontrelle Willis in a big market in his early 20's, not a FA for another 4 years...I'd be drowning in my own drool, even with a bad history of signings (which we have too btw...Renteria, Clement)Comment

Re: Willis and Cabrera trade thread...
You guys kill me. I'm baffled that anybody would think twice about giving up a "potential top 5 2B" for a 23 year old LH Cy Young candidate. Guess what fellas...a top 5 2B still isn't that good.
Cano and Wang might be very good (I personally don't understand what the infatuation is) but Willis IS very good and has a lot of very good years left in him. When it comes to pitching you always take the sure thing especially considering Willis is 2 years younger than Wang.
Being burned in the past isn't a good reason to not go for more FA pitching. The Yankees stubborness in holding onto Cano and Wang is going to cost them some potentially good deals. It already cost them Josh Beckett, would they really be stupid enough to pass up Willis as well?Comment

I'd give up Derek Jeter for Dontrelle Willis. And I'm not even joking.Comment
