Besides the fact that Cormier is a Bammer , it sounds good. I think the emergence of McCann makes Estrada expendable, or lets hope McCann can do the job next season.

That's what im afraid of. McCann did a good job last year but can he do it for a full year. He isn't as good a hitter as Estrada but has more power and is faster. Maybe a bit better behind hte plate. I would've liked to keep Estrada as starter though. Losing his job because of inj last year and now trading him to the Diamondbacks, we should've given him another chance.

Estrada was a huge letdown this past season.

Apparantly we could've had Miguel Batista for Estrada, sounds like the Jays didn't react quick enough to make it happen though.

              - The Jays met with the Atlanta Braves yesterday. The Braves want Batista and want the Jays to take catcher Johnny Estrada.

i dont think the braves were gonna get a batista for estrada deal plus i think Batista has a decent contract, but i dont see where either of these pithcers are very good, Maybe atleast 1 of them is productive and helps our pen

If the Braves still had Leo Mazzone I'd say this is a good deal for them, but seeing as they don't, its nothing special. Estrada was expendable and he's getting older (despite only being a starter for a couple years) so its not a bad deal for them, but its nothing to be excited over.

Batista would have been nice, maybe would have addressed the opening at closer.

What I like about this deal is not that we get rid of Estrada, which I'm actually upset about. Now McCann AND Marte wont be part of this potential Renteria deal that's being thrown around. I wouldnt want to lose both of them in that, but if Estrada is gone, then obviously McCann is the full-time man.
