    Red Sox name Co-GM's

The Press conference is on right now. They named Jed Hoyer and Ben Cherington, which isn't really a surprise. They've also said that Theo is not returning.

I like this move much more than hiring somebody like Beattie or Bowden.

Duties will initially be split up with Jed Hoyer in charge of ML Talent and Ben Cherington in charge of player development.

LL wouldn't deny on confirm the rumors that Theo is coming back.

Well the last co-GMs didn't do too well. The team of Beatagan may have been hamstrung by Angelos but still.

I like this move. Although Theo will be back in an advising role but the Sox won't admit it right now.

The Sox have had a nice off-season so far. We fleeced the Marlins on the Beckett trade.

I found it puzzling why Ken Huckaby was signed. His D is pretty good but he's brutal at the plate. I know he signed a minor league contract but I expect him to be chosen over Shoppach once the season starts.

That's cuz Mirabelli went to the Padres (I think) so they need a defensive/specialty type of catcher for Wakefield.

Exactly. They were also talking to Ausmus, in hopes he doesn't re-sign with Houston.

The big difference between this situation and Baltimore is that Baltimore's GM's didn't know each other before working together, while these two have been working together for 4 years. There still could be some friction but I think this is still more of a "GM by committee" with Hoyer, Cherington, Shipley, Lajoie, Lucchino and probably Theo all involved in decision making.
