Patterson has been here for 4 years. With the exception of the first half of '03 he's been god awful. How can your plate discipline get progressively worse? His struggles at the plate have also contributed to some defensive lapses as well. To top it off his attitude just stinks! I'm not saying he can't rebound (he probably will knowing what happens to ex-Cubs) but he definitely could use the "change of scenery".Comment

Re: Cubs to aquire Jaque Jones??
As of yesterday the Cards had a 3 yr 20 million dollar offer on the table to Jones.....so the Cubs would have to exceed that. Also Hendry says they are considering Patterson to fill the void in RF.Comment

Juan Pierre is horrible in CF compared to Patterson. Why not just put Murton (righty) in right, Pierre (lefty) in left, and Corey at his gold glove position in CF?Comment

Re: Cubs to aquire Jaque Jones??
It's down to basically the Cubs, Cardinals and Royals for Jones and the Cardinals will most likely land him. The Cubs are not willing to go to 3 years and the Royals can't match the $20.million offer by the Cards.
If the Cubs fail to sign Jones then expect them to look at guy's like Dustin Mohr, Richard Hidalgo and Juan Encarnacion, who are all relatively inexpensive and can be productive. If not, get used to seeing Corey Patterson in RF.Comment

As of right now what other options does he have. He's not going to say John Mabry is his staring right fielder.
Hendry could not of dream of having this bad of an offseason.Comment
