Our government has acted like a petty 13 year old when it comes to Cuba for the last 30 years.
If you are interested, however, Cuba will allow any American citizen to train at its very fine medical institutions for free. And Venezualans.

The U.S. is so childish. Having a travel ban on cuba because you dont like their government is stupid and quite childish really IMO. I mean just think, if all the countries in the world who didnt like the u.s. banned their citizens from traveling to america, the U.S. would have to shut down all of its tourism industries

This isn't about the Cuban baseball team taking a vacation in the US, it goes a little deeper than that. It's a stupid reason, but still a deeper reason than what you stated.

I dont think Cuba even if had played in the WBC that they would have used Major League Stars. I think they would have just used guys on the National Team. They would not want people in Cuba to see guys do well that escaped from the Country to riches in the US.

Cuba is still listed on the WBC web page as playing in Pool C (Puerto Rico) with Puerto Rico, Panama an The Netherlands.

I'm not going into this because it'll get locked up quick, but Cuba's government has been a ruthless dictatorship for decades, and Castro is no differenct than Saddam or Ho Chi Minh.

Cuban players tell some gruesome stories about their family members that have been murdered for political reasons there.

Still I think it's a shame that Cuba may not play in this tournament as I think they'd give some of the superpowers of baseball a run for their money.
