I'm not sure it's really that big of deal, since I'm starting to not take this thing very seriously (unlike the Olympics, World Cup Soccer, etc) since they're letting players play pretty much wherever they want. Seriously, just look at some guys from team "Italy":

Frank Catalanotto born in Smithtown, NY
David Dellucci born in Baton Rouge, LA
Mark DeRosa born in Passiac, NJ
Mike DiFelice born in Philadelphia, PA
Tony Fiore born in Oak Park, IL
Mike Gallo born in Long Beach, CA
Jason Grilli born in Royal Oak, MI
Matt Mantei born in Tampa, FL
Frank Menechino born in Staten Island, NY
Doug Mirabelli born in Kingman, AZ
Val Puscucci born in Bellflower, CA
Mike Piazza born in Norristown, PA
Joe Vitiello born in Cambridge, MA
Pete Zoccolillo born in Bronx, NY

    Nice team of "ITALIANS"

Why don't they just have Tommy Lasorda manage the team? And they can wear uniforms with pizza sauce stains. And they can constantly hit on the women in the stands.

It may look like a "joke" but understand that players can represent the country of their birth or their parents birth. In that respect it isn't THAT bad. We all know that if it was strictly the nation of one's birth then the Italians would still be in the first inning losing 21-0
