Not surprising really, just the usual soul-less, ghoulish PR comments that come from the mouth of Rodriguez. The guy has never said anything genuine, ever.

Although thats true.... why aren't you criticizing the comments from all of the other players who refused to lay for their various reasons?

I dont see it as a big deal. Some guys want to represent their countries and others want to relax with their wives and kids before having to play 170+ games. Not a big deal.

And some people want to represent (or at least think about representing) countries that they probably never even visited, let alone were born in.

Give an example of a soul-less, ghoulish comment. How do you know he's never said anything genuine? Oh, you don't.

You see a guy who is the highest paid player in all of sports, plays for the most hated franchise in all of sports, and you automatically see a guy who is a jerk.

I guess you didnt read anything from the article.

"When faced with the decision to choose between my country, the United States of America, and my Dominican heritage, I decided I will not dishonor either," Rodriguez was quoted as saying in Friday's editions of the New York Post.

I heard about it a couple days ago and wasn't the least bit surprised.

It's amazing to me that he would want to play for the DR. Heritage aside, he was born in NY. He's made millions upon millions here in America, but was still considering playing for another team.

Now before someone starts talking about other players making millions in America but still playing for other countries, it's a different situation. Seeing as all the others (I don't know for a certain fact, but it would stand to reason) were actually born in that respective country.

You missed my point. I am just disgusted that a guy would think about representing a country he wasn't even born in. Heritage be damned, you don't see any black players representing any African nations or any white players representing their Anglo-Saxon heritage. Hell, if A-Rod wants to honor DR so much, he should see if any of their teams want to give him $25 million per year to play.

I was hoping he'd "Brett Hull" this and play for the DR, but it's too bad.
