I like this signing. Low risk, high reward for a guy who throws gas.

Good move, if Dotel is back healthy the Yanks should have thier best bullpen since the Stanton,Nelson, Mendoza days. With Farnsworth,Dotel,Myers, a few other guys like Villone, Sturtze, Small, and obviously Mo.

Great signing. He is a great relief pitcher.

Yanks finally sign someone to try and match the Red Sox moves....

          only a matter of time.

interesting how nobody says anything about the risks that Dotel carries....but when the M's sign Jarrod Washburn it's this huge horrible deal....sometimes...ugh...

Dotel will burn in flames with the Yanks. I just don't see him faring well there.

Umm....I don't know...maybe it's because according to the other thread Washburn is signing a 4 year deal between 30 and 38 million.

Dotel is signing a 1 year 2 million deal.

Also Dotel is a relief pitcher and only has to pitch 1 inning at a time.

If healthy i think Washburn should fair well in Seattle. Safco Field is a much pitcher friendlier park than Angels Stadium. However, i do not believe him to be worth the money the Mariners gave him, but unfortunately thats the market for pitching this winter (good going Blue Jays).

lol what is the risk? The point of a move like this is that it has no risk and a high reward. The M's are spending only 35 mil more for Washburn, a pitcher who has only won more than 11 games once.

Yup. If he reaches the incentives, he will be worth the price.

This is just another has-been FA who used to be an All-Star caliber player but is a shell of his former self. He'll be gone by the All-Star break, and another body tossed into the pile of over-the-hill casualities in the post-dynasty era.

When will Cashman and Steinbrenner learn.
