Re: Cards come to terms with Encarnacion
Solid moves, nothing too big though.
Lineup looks like it'll be somethin along these lines this year (not batting order):
C- Yadier Molina
1B- Albert Pujols
2B- Hector Luna/Junior Spivey/Deivi Cruz/Aaron Miles
SS- David Eckstein
3B- Scott Rolen
RF- Juan Encarnacion
CF- Jim Edmonds
LF- So Taguchi/Larry Bigbie/John Rodriguez/John Gall
The FO seems high on Luna at 2B (and of the group I don't really blame them, he atleast seems to have some upside), but they might go with Spivey to keep Luna in a utility role (2B/SS/3B/OF), if Luna wins the starting 2B job then Spivey probably makes team as backup 2B and Cruz likely makes the team as backup at 3B, Miles IMO is the odd man out right now (not that I know anything).
LF I think Taguchi wins the starting job due to his defense and that he produced solid as he got more playing time last season, FO thinks Bigbie has a bright future so he'll stick most likely, JRod will make it so we have his pop off the bench, Gall probably bound for AAA early on.Last edited by IlliniM1ke; 12-23-2005, 11:05 PM.Favorite Teams:

What I am happy about with the recent transactions is that Marquis is still on the team, leaving the Cards with the option to unload him or Mulder near the deadline to try and get an impact player if needed.Comment

Re: Cards come to terms with Encarnacion
Yeah. Miles will be at AAA. And I see 2B coming down to either Spivey or Cruz with Luna being a wild card since he can play so many positions, although it wouldn't surprise me if Luna did win the job. Last year he hit .285 with a .344 OBP. Plus he's only 25.
Actually, in the future (possibly next year) I think we could see Luna playing SS while Eckstein is moved to 2B.Comment

It looks like a couple of solid deals, but isn't Encarnacion old? Spivey could get his form back, he was pretty good.Rose City 'Til I Die
