Jays and Twins talking trade again
According to Bob Elliott the Blue Jays and Twins are talking about dealing Koskie again. The big stumbling block is whether the Jays would eat up some of Koskie's contract.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Bob Elliot is one of the worst Jay reporters.
The Koskie back to Minny rumor was started by Star-Tribune writer Sid Hartman. And he's a friend of Koskie. I don't see him going back to the Twins especially when they signed Batista. -

Originally posted by mvb34The Twins could use Batista as a DH
For the OF they have: Stewart, Hunter, Cuddyer, Ford (And Kubel if ever gets healthy)
3B: Batista
SS: Bartlett
2B: Castillo
1B: Morneau
C: Mauer
DH: White
The only way Koskie lands with the Twins is at 3B and if Batista gets cut before the season.
I imagine Batista mainly signed because Ryan told him there was a strong chance he will at 3B at opening day vs. the Jays.Comment

Re: Jays and Twins talking trade again
If there's a good deal for Hillenbrand than it would be foolish to keep him.
You pretty much know what you're going to get from Hillenbrand. He'll hit for a good average, not draw walks, hit about 18 HR's, and drive in 75-85 runs.
It's been reported the Jays are willing to pick up 3.5 million from the reminder of Koskie's contract but the Twins said no. I wouldn't cover any more than that.
If Koskie isn't dealt by the beginning of spring training, it would be strange for him to enter the locker-room knowing the team wanted to get rid of him. I think it's bad business in general to trade away your big FA signing after only one season. Especially a player that took a home country discount to sign.Comment

Hillenbrand will never be dealt as long as he's under contract with the Jays. It seems JP has a man crush on the guy.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Jays and Twins talking trade again
Yeah, I feel for Koskie having to sign in Toronto, have his season ruined by a freak injury, and then get pushed off his starting job for next season. Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't broken his finger... for one, Aaron Hill would've never played in the big leagues last season.
And I don't know how much I trust JP's words anymore these days. Whenever he says no, it always ends up happening. See BJ, AJ, Glaus deals.Comment
