I absolutely LOVE Kauffman Stadium. Easily my fave. But a rolling roof to move between Kauffman and Arrowhead!?! I can't even come close to wraping my mind around this concept.

They're right next to each other, eh? That I never knew.
What's wrong with it, though? mlb.com and the luxury tax.
It's not like they put it back into the payroll. Anyway, this is supposed to be paid through taxes. It's mainly for Arrowhead since they were told the only way to get a Superbowl is if they built a roof.Comment

Re: A rolling roof for Kauffman!?!
I haven't been to a game at Kauffman in like 15 years and from what I remember, putting a roof over that sucker would look weird as hell. I loved the stadium though. Very different. Got to see Clemens pitch for the Red Sox that day in a DH.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: A rolling roof for Kauffman!?!
Amazing what technology can do. I'm not really in favour of this as Kauffman is one of my fave stadiums in all of MLB and it DOESN'T need a roof!
Some stadiums are not meant to have one and Kauffman is one of those stadiums.
As for the Chiefs, well I understand it if they really want a SB.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: A rolling roof for Kauffman!?!
The reason this is being done is because of the possibility of getting a Super Bowl. The roof would sit between the two stadiums when not in use so Kauffman's charm would remain in tact, as well as Arrowhead's. My guess is the only time it would be used for baseball is to prevent rainouts.
Actually, the original plans for the Truman Sports Complex (area where Arrowhead and Kauffman were built) called for a rolling roof between the two stadiums, which was very much ahead of it's time.Minnesota Vikings

I am not in favor of the rolling roof idea. As for preventing rainouts, the Royals have a very low average of postponed games per year, I think I heard the number was around two or three. So would spending tens of millions of dollars on the rolling roof really benefit the Royals? Not in my opinon.
Even with the roof, I'm still not convinced that Kansas City will be awarded a Super Bowl. I mean, look at that satellite photo of the Truman Sports Complex. There is absolutely nothing around that area. No restaurants, no entertainment, no hotels (OK, there are a few along I-70, but not many). I just cannot imagine a Super Bowl ever being held there, rolling roof or not.
There are better ways to spend taxpayers' money. This is not one of them.
